Cruising across town looking at apartments with my fiance I noticed an S2k a ways back weaving through traffic, apparently in an effort to catch me...goodie, I thought! Finally caught up on one of the most perfect spots in town to get a good roll run in, between two fields in the middle of town, no side streets or lights for about a mile and high speed limit...he pulled up next to me, yess!!

waiting...waiting...waiting...hmm, maybe he needs some enticing, I looked over, stone stare straight forward, ok, so I hit it for a sec in third to see if hed just go with me, nothing...hmm, then he starts slowly inching by me as if he never meant to pace me in the first place, so what the crap, all that for nothing? I thought it was over, next thing I know hes jetting off from about a car and a half out and hits the hazards...lol, wtf? I know yall got a 9k rpm band, so you can tell when that car is going wot...he was not, he just strolled by and nailed it.

anyway, we cruise further and actually catch a light, i look over hoping to get to chat at least cause by now racing was out of the question as we are in the middle of town, one of the more busy intersections with lots of saturday peeps out and about. nothing, my fiance noted he looked like a statue. anyway, now the turn lanes turned green and I hear something, he shouts out, both he and his passenger full of smiles asking what I had done to my car, I said stock minus exhaust (a blatant lie...but i digress cause he looked bone stock) and just before we get green i hear him bring up the revs and then he dumps it and peels out through the intersection...had I done that I'm certain a cop woulda taken me downtown, i opted not to follow suit at this point.

next light we are there and they are both giggly and i just smiled and told him it looked pretty quick, his reply, "Yep, cause its an 04, thats why!" with an odd sense of arrogance that seemed so silly I just laughed and now we're a little more out of town so we rolled out and I hit it in second, tires squaked and bit and i pulled about a car and realized he didnt go so said screw it, i was at the speed limit anyway, and what does he do? stroll by and take off again and this time I didn't see him after cause he turned...pity this had to be my first encounter, but thats my lame story...

 

sounds to me like you met kinda a lame driver. "it's an 04 so it's faster". hehe classic.

is your car stock by the way?

 

not quite stock...S2 w/o toys, ported tb, 3" turbo back exhaust, CAI, suspension crap and motor mounts...I'm not sure he woulda been flashing his hazards had we gotten a good run in, I'll just say that

 

I'm sorry that had to be your first. I promise you there are more respectable S2k drivers out there.

Stage 2 nice. I've been reading about stage 3's and how they will pull 12.5's @ 110. What kind of trap speeds do you think you can muster up?

Speaking of SRT4's...And old friend of mine came into town friday night...He has alway's had a neon...even before the srt4's...he could make the 420a's scoot...Anyway's he has a full stage 2 kit with and upgraded 56 trim t3/t4 turbo, MSD coil ignition...really way too many mods to list..and he gave an EVO MR a very good run...the evo was modified as well...I have it all on video (I was flagging...buddie was taping) If I can figure out how to host is online I will do so...The 1st run he missed his 2nd to 3rd shift...and still almost caught him in the end...The 2nd run was much better, he didnt beat him, but he evened up with him even after the evo MR jumped him a good 2 cars off the launch (gotta love the AWD )...I was really impressed with his car..and for a FWD I think it's one of the best...if not the best bang for the buck out there...I absolutely love the stock seats ...I just gotta have either RWD or AWD personally...I wanted to run the srt4 but a firehawk trans am and an 02 ls1 camaro (same mods...firehawk 6 speed...camaro auto) ran for the rest of the time we were there...that race just came down to who had the better launch...They were very fast though, I could actually "Feel" them as they passed me after the flag...the exhaust note on those things are to die for... I ended up playing around with "shannon" (the owner of the fire hawk) on the way back to the lot, We never really could get a clean run out of the deal, He was carrying my buddie Sudds and his girl, and I had my girlfriend with me...The 1st time was from a roll 50mph I was in 2nd...we both went at the same time...when he gunned it so did I...we were side by side with him "inching" literally ahead of me before his missed his 2nd to 3rd shift...The next time from a roll I held up 3 fingers for a 3 honk countdown and he went after the 1st honk....We came to a stoplight...he was in the righthand lane...and their was a car in the lefthand so I was behind him...When the light turned green he gunned it...so did I "I had to feather the throttle he keep from rear ending him...I whipped into the left hand lane and he let off when I came up beside him -shrug-...I know he would pull on me...but with 3 peeps in his car the s2k was pulling pretty good ...His car is very fast, I would like to get a clean run with him next weekend just to see what happens...I have a feeling he will get me by a few cars...but I'm curious...I will keep you posted if we run.

haha, quite a story! sounds like a cool group of car guys having fun! I dont hold my encounter against S2K owners, just like I hope not to be judged by the numbskulls who drive my car, they exist among all cars and just have to be taken with a grain of salt. Anyway, I may be getting rid of the SRT soon if I can find a lightning around me to pick up, Im just not really feeling into the whole quick little car scene, its a fun car, but I miss the big truck I used to have...but we'll see. If I had to muster a guess, I'd think I probably trap 105ish +/- a few, never been to a track but thats around where other guys trap with similar mods I think. Id be happy with mid to low 13s, but probably would botch my launch and get a high 13.

 

please, if you see this kid again, get out, stroll over to his car, lean down as if to say hi, and slap him acrossed the face. LOL. what a punk. i hate kids like that. had a kid in an accord cruise by me and hit the flashers the other day. i just and turned where i was goin. F&F kids these days.
