First Race in the S2K...
First race with t3h S2K! It was 4am, and I was cruising with a friend. Drove around to see if any cops were prowling, then we finally hit an Ext. (kinda like a mini-freeway), 3-lanes...straight as an arrow strip of road that went on for a good 5km or more. My mate Jimmy insisted that we both go from a dig. For reference, Jimmy drives a 1996 Honda Prelude Si-VTEC (JDM), which is stock. We finally hit a red light - I brought the revs up to around 3 grand for a soft launch, dont want my diff blowing all over the road. Sure the chances of it happening on the very first hard launch are slim, but reading and hearing about it enough has made me fear it nonetheless.
The lights turned...Jimmy launched hard, but didn't seem to get traction, and sat there spinning for a split second...surprisingly, after a bit of a 'chirp' from the tyres...i was off...no bogging either, i rowed through the gears like an champ, Gan-San from Best Motoring had nothing on me...as I blasted up to 150km/h +, periodically looking in my rear & sideview mirrors in an attempt to accurately gauge just how much damage I was doing to Jimmy. I noticed that I was pulling quite steadily, in the end building up a credible 5-6 carlength lead before I shut down.
My friend pulled up wearing a shocked expression, either that or he was really tired (it was afterall 4am). I don't think he expected to get beaten like that. He's a pretty good driver, and has to date only lost against a heavily modified 04 WRX' and now, me. A few days ago he also went head to head with another friend with an ITR, but they came off 2 wins each, so a draw. Guess he expected our encounter to be a bit closer than it was
Anyway, notch up one victory for the S.

Thx guys...
I know I'll have to launch harder than 3k to beat more capable cars...but right now I'm babyin' my S'
What rpm's do you fella's usually launch at? Just outta curiousity...

nope ....i have a blown s2k and 5500 is the ideal launch no matter what any more than 5800 and you spin in v-tec and anything under 5 grand you bog under vtech..
my best time slip is 12.80 my 60' was 1.8 and my trap was at 114 mph after
i aired my tires down to 18 psi. I consistantly get a 13.20 to a 13.40.
but the ideal launch is 5500..

everyone has there own way i suppose, that was just my suggestion..
but one thing i do know for sure if you launch hard you are going to screw up your rear.. i just exploded my diff and it was not pretty. both my final gears are stripped and my differential is broken to say the least. wow its expensive to rebuild, my diff is 1800.00, my final drive gears were 1300.00 my bearing and seal kit to do the job was 800.00 and honda is charging me 200 bucks to actually put the diff gears in the casing cause i am not a gear man..
even though i took the diff out myself and am going to install the caseing myself it is expensive..
will think twice about dropping the clutch hard in a race again.
even if i did rebuild it with spoon parts...
