Fun over at the LS1 Board
The Vette in the Video has a final gear ratio of 3:42 (I had to ask him to make sure).
As for gas mileage I'd be willing to bet that at 70 mph on the freeway that an S2K does not get significantly better gas milage than I do.
I average about 34 mpg pm the freeway.
And obviously you can't compare a Vette to any base model Z28 in terms of handling. If you look at local SCCA events and classes the Vettes win more than their fair share of classes every year.

Knocking on 12's? Didn't you say your SS was close to 385HP? That's more than enough to be very deep into the 12's. With slicks you might be knocking on 11's.
Knocking on 12's because they closed the track before I could get down there and lay down some runs. But...yeah, I'm a big guy...6-4, 235.
As for the S2000 being the same "cliche" mid life crisis vehicle as the Vette, I'll have to part ways on that one. People I have spoken to see the S2000 as something of a niche vehicle with the average driver being one who really likes to drive their car. When I was hot on the heels of a low mileage '98 C5, just about every friend told me, "oh, no...he's after his mid life car." It simply is the majority opinion. Yes, a convertible can be considered a cliche I suppose, but for some reason, that moniker has clung to the Vette (unfortunately so) and it comes with the territory. Had I purchased my first at the age of 22, I suppose that generalization wouldn't apply. Part of my DNA is the driving force of being "different," so once I realized that by purchasing the C5, I would see myself coming and going every other day, that sort of steered me away from the car, which obviously is a world class piece of machinery, let's make no mistake about that. Also, FWIW, I could care less WHO sees me in the S2000, since I would have selected it over the C5 if I lived on a deserted island with a 5-mile stretch of pavement...I just find the Honda to be more fun to drive. Sometimes GETTING to illegal speeds is more fun when you have a bit more time to enjoy the journey...my SS was so quick, I was in the "watch out for cops" zone within seconds and it was sort of like busting your "chop" before the undies hit the floor, if I can be so bold.
Enjoy your cars, whatever they may be. These are great times to be an enthusiast. Let's see if Lutz can create some magic at GM. I think he will.
