Fun over at the LS1 Board
um, ok again?
The only reason I assumed you didn't have a real sports car is because of how you speak. You sounded so immature and arrogant, it was a joke. Who would believe you actually own a good car.
What with the whole tailights thing? So, the definition of a "sports car" is beating me in a straight line?
Um, if I remeber correctly, you already bashed on Wes for losing....

Will I bash on wes if I win or lose...no. I don't make excuses...
To be honest.....I think it is pretty sad that a stock c5 can pull your 305rwhp s2k.
I wasn't bashing on him...I just said that if I was Wes i would be pretty upset if I got beat by a stock c5. I'm not a very smart guy...but I thought the "1le" in my forum name would have given away they type of car I drive.

This is starting to turn into petty bickering. For the most part the members of this board, s2k owners or not, have had a mutual respect for all sports cars. IMO, Camaros and Corvettes are great sports cars, and I love that super torque monster feel I get when riding in my friends Z28 with an ls1 motor.
There should be nothing more than respect for each of the stock cars as is. Mods are a different story....
Now for those of you ripping on the s2k because it may be slower than an LS1:
Ask any s2000 owner why they bought the car, and I bet you will never hear "I wanted to have a super fast car that I can drag race and beat LS1s with". I doubt LS1 owners bought their cars for the sole reason of dragging Hondas on the street or strip.
The very thought that my 4 cylinder sports car, which I love more than most things in my life, can be compared to any LS1 bearing Chevy when reffering to speed, is just amazing. To say my car got beat by only 4 car lengths in the 1/4 mile versus an LS1 is a huge compliment to me....Don't any other s2k owners share in my opinion of this?

So you drive a Comaro with a good handling package. Don't see how that makes you smart....
Oh, and if so hot on drag racing, I have a few Saleen freinds that would rip you a new asshole! Maybe you could see their "tailights".... See how retarded that sounds!?!
People like you give GM owners a bad name

I'm done w/ thisAJ
when Wes raced that C5 auto, looked as if he auto quickly pulled some cars, then stayed the same distance.
Also, he has a different gear set right? and torque convertor?
I'm guessing with the gear set, you get less topspeed?
So maybe if they raced from about 70

Damn fellas...this thread has turned into a Brady Bunch "Peter vs. Bobby" episode. My SS was knocking on 12's when I sold it, so having that kind of power, while intoxicating to some, was simply not enough to keep me motivated as an owner. I was experiencing the first signs of the oil consumption issue common to an uncomfortably large group of LS1 owners and the fit and finish of the car was pecking away at my enthusiasm for all the good things it provided. It was fun to drive in a straight line, but without a moderate fiscal investment in the handling department, a stock SS is (rather...for me, was) not the most entertaining drive thru the countryside. In most cases, a stock SS is a 13.2-13.7 1/4-mile car and the extra few lengths it would have on an atypical S2000 in such a race wasn't worth the 15mpg I was getting in the city or the knock knack problems I was beginning to face with quality control. Having said that, other owners who have more time to devote to the car might find these tid bits of frustration easier to deal with and thus have a satisfaction level higher than owners like me, who prefer our $30K automobiles to be more plug and play rather than buy and "let's start the mods list." Both cars have their obvious merits, but let me propose this hypothetical scenario...for those who are open minded about domestics AND imports, if you were forbidden to modify either an LS1 f-body or S2K, which car would you then prefer to own? Take away all the goodies available for the SS and suddenly it's just another mid 13-second car with poor ergonomics, horrible interior room and bad gas mileage (city)...let's not forget the incendiary depreciation. However, since such a scenario isn't applicable in the real world, I guess we can all get back to beating each other up. Also...FWIW, not to upset any C5 owners, but I had my eyes on several at the time I sold my SS and in fact, was perusing thru a few videos sent to me from dealers with low mileage 98's (model year I was after). At some point in one of the vids it simply dawned on me that C5's, even in this neck of the woods, are a dime a dozen and considering my age (40),. I didn't want to be labeled as a cliche (mid-life crisis time...time to get a Vette). As stupid as that sounds, it's a generalization that applies in most parts of the country. For that reason (and a few others), I was drawn to this S2000 which has, in a span of only 300 introductory miles on the odo, turned more ordinary citizens into Linda Blair than I ever could of imagined. I get thumbs up and "hey, gorgeous car, what is it?" every time I take it out. So...the world has plenty of highway for us all, but you guys with the LS1's....if you need to get to your destination 5-6 car lengths quicker than I, that's fine. The faster you go, the less time people see how cool you look getting there!
Russ,
I think it was good for you to get rid of your SS. Obviously just cruising along and having people notice your car are more important and an S2000 will definetly get that done much better than a camaro would. Straight-line acceleration is not as important to you so the S2000 is a better choice for you.
There's nothing wrong with that.
For me, I prefer the torque and acceleration of my vette. I get great performance which is number one for me in my book and great style which is number two. People compliment me on my car all the time also. I chose yellow because it stood out like crazy. It was the right choice for me.
There's nothing wrong with the S being the right choice for you and the vette the right choice for me.
