Default Got Spanked by an LS1 Z28

Well, I knew I was going to lose before the race even started, but it was fun so what the heck..

Driving along the diagonal highway to work this morning I merge into traffic right next to a new Z28 with ghetto rims... Not thinking much of it I continue on my hurried way. So the guy decides he wants to show me that size isn't everything by getting along side me and goosing the throttle... "Yes, I know it means you want to race." So we leap-frog eachother through some traffic, while he pulls on me from every speed.. Then we hit a light, and I pull in behind him... Ahh well, don't want to go down without a fight... So I brought the revs up to about 2.5k and waited for green. I started about 2 cars back so I wouldn't smack his bumper if he wasted the launch. Green. I get a sweet launch and I'm about 2-3 feet from his bumper... Shift to 2nd, and I'm still there. Shift to 3rd, and uh oh, there he goes.. As he hit what I'm assuming was 3rd gear, he just started walking away.. We ran up to about 110, and I couldn't even count the number of lengths I was behind (maybe 5-6)... It was sad... He turned off a bit later and we exchanged friendly honks. It was fun, but damn I feel slow...

Good death. It is always good to hear these stories as well. Have you thought of going to the new M3? I love the way those things sound.

Of course I've thought about getting into a new M3, but I'd have to think about winning the lottery first....

In all seriousness though, I'm thinking about either modding my M to near E46 specs, or buying a winter beater to keep the E36 as nice as she can be...

The LS1's are very quick once they get into 3rd, the first 2 gears are good if you can launch good

Yeah, they're imfamous for their 3rd gear pull... Back when I had my GT, I could usually get the advantage in the first two gears, but after 3rd they'd be back even with me and sometimes pulling...
