you can use Nitrous in any gear, but I would recommend a window switch to avoid spraying at too low RPMs and having your engine blow up. Also I have been told it's not good to spray in overdrive (5th for most cars, 6th for the S)

never used N20 on a turbo car so it might be different, but on a NA car like ours if the rpms are too low you willl not have enough air flow and the N20 might puddle and cause an explosion. Seen in first hand on my friends mustang GT. Blew the intake manifold apart and pushed the hood up about 6 inches + severe internal engine damage.
