I agree I bet that WRX had some major mods, probably a bigger turbo, catless, tunning etc. Those cars are very cheap to modify, I use to have one that was pretty quick till I was hit with a defective tranny.

I've pulled on every wrx by carlengths with ease.....except one. About 2 yrs ago, a silver pulled up next to me on the highway (definitely not an STI unless he went through alot of trouble and money to make his STI wrx looking...lol). the only thing I noticed was the fact that he had no exhaust at all...very loud. Anyways, starting at 60mph, he pulled like 5-6 cars on me fairly quickly (just a couple of blinks..haha). I knew then that he had to be heavily modded to do that. I have only CAI. Even though he had a lot of mods, it was still pretty impressive. I never mind losing to a well built car.

You haven't hydrolocked or anything lately which could hurt your compression have you?

How hard is it to figure out that the wrx was modded and he lost?

Hydrolocking doesn't cause compression loss, it causes total destruction of the engine.

Don't rule out all the options man. Have you checked out the car in person or worked on it? Most likely it was modded but you never know.

You have your facts wrong.

Say someone trys startin up their car after driving through lot sof water or a heavy night of rain with the CAI...It doesn't start...Well after playing with the plugs, letting it dry out tc then it finally starts and drives. There could be some damage to the compression or internals. There have been stories of this in under the hood actually. Def would suck if this happened.

Obviously some water being injested by the intake can cause compression loss, but that is not hydrolocking.

What I think is ridiculous is rather than saying "nice death"...people have to come up with all of these potential excuses for the loss.

because this is an s2k board

I think the reason is because at first comment/post most people thought the WRX was stock which now it doesn't seem like but you never know. Could have been squeezing also.

Well that puts some of the members of s2ki down a few notches in my book if they can't give props or another brand or style of car.

There are so many mods out there (including turbo upgrades) that would put an s2k 5-6 car lenghts back with no problem. Most wrx guys lean toward turbo, ecu, exhaut, etc upgrades rather than squeezing. Squeezing isn't out of the question...but it's not nearly as common.
