For the C&D lightning lap the V6 Mustang w/the performance package ran a 3:12.5 while hitting the 114mph speed governor for over 15 seconds a lap.

The S2000 CR did it in 3:15.0.
do you know what the difference in rubber is though? might be something that may have been a deciding factor.

255/40R19, Pirelli PZeros on the Mustang.

Not a huge step up from the CR's RE070s. Actually, I'll take the RE070s for a track day.

Actually, a V6 with the GT suspension package will destroy your S2000 on any track (turns or straight).

Just look at the data and ignore whatever stereotypes about Mustangs you've been taught.

A stock V6 Mustang with the performance package is faster than an S2000 CR on just about any track. I'm sure the CR would be better on a go-cart track or auto-x course.

Cars speak for themselves. I haven't had to be taught anything about Mustangs, its a 3500lb+ car. Give it some good rubber on a track where a car like that can shine and anything is possible. But I agree 2011 has made leaps from previous years. I recently took down the 2011 GT in a drag 0-80mph only getting him by a few cars... so they are earning some credibility again.
