What a flagrant display of stupidity.

Where precisely in this thread did this kid remember, and then forget, the top speed of the S? He gets into a pissing contest with another car owner over top speed, when he doesn't even know his own cars top speed? WTF?

First of all, the S is drag limited, which means top speed will vary given conditions. I've seen ~147 stated the most.

If you had ever taken your S past 120 you'd understand why you sound so damn silly. The S will not reach 140 with any authority. Claiming it will exceed 160 is laughable. You would need a tailwind and a really long downgrade to ever see 155 on the speedo. Then consider 155 on the speedo is actually closer to 150-152 in reality.

Yeah, I'd be done with this thread too if I were you.

[QUOTE]Then explain to me how I managed 152mph on a long stretch of a highway and still had a tiny bit juice left.

Uh, what is there to explain that I havent already? It's drag limited so results will vary. 152 on your speedo is around 149 in reality. I believe it. So what? If you had juice left why didn't you keep going? Was gaining a MPH every minute not worth it?

I am pulling that out of my ass. It's a matter of opinion. I didnt say the S has any trouble reaching 140. I just said it does not do so with AUTHORITY. I drive a Z so try to understand where I'm coming from.

Relax. My post wasn't even directed towards you.
I WAS relaxed. I just thought you meant that the S had a huge difficulty reaching 140 when I had done over that. I stopped at 152 because 150 was my target and I had achieved it.

well here's my story for the day: i was cruising down the highway at 65 miles an hour yo.. these two guys in a civic hatch pulled up next to me trying to get my number.. but instead of being a jerk about it, i gently smiled at his gesture, waved nicely and then drove off..

you know.. since we're sharing pointless stories and all..

sorry just wanted to join the ruckus...

actually i understand your point Dolemike.. and i got the story and found it to be a bit amusing because i saw what you were getting at, and i agree that's funny.. but your initial retort was a bit uncalled for, the part when you said "oh i'm sorry" or something to that effect

anywho.. thanks for sharing

I got a skateboard thatll do 300. I see where you guys are coming from with the comment "I am sorry to hear that". But to have been there and heard how the conversation went would have given you guys a better understanding that the guy was actually the cocky one with his RalliArt, basically insinuating that its faster than an s2000. I am not a cocky person at all, anyone that knows me personally can vouche for that, I just say things when I see fit for it to be said. If he wouldve never said his Lancer could do 160 I would have never replied like that. Not to mention he was trying to have a stare contest at the same time.

I didnt forget the topspeed of the s2000 either, I never knew what it actually was to begin with. I remembered reading a thread and people were saying 160ish. I've only owned my s2k for 6 months, jeebus. The fastest ive been in it is 130 with the top down, it got there rather quick too. The only reason I didnt go faster is my friend was crying like a baby for me to slow down. So I made an inaccurate statement, mine was closer to the truth being moreso than his comment anyways.

OK... so I think there were two problems here:
1) This is one of those occasions where "Ya kinda had to be there" to really understand where this whole story was coming from.

2) This is the internet, which is text-based, so you can't really hear the vocal inflection that might indicate who was being cocky and who wasn't.

We'll have to take your word for it that you weren't being cocky and that the other guy was. Either way, it's not a very exciting story. Next time, make him race you to 160. That'll be more interesting.
