I'm looking to purchase one next summer- I had actually put a small deposit down for one of the first Exige's to come over... but have since changed my mind... and have decided to purchase a slightly used one next spring... (with the # of owners who bought them as status symbols- with no true intention of ever tracking the car- have been selling gingerly used, low mileage Elises for CHEAP by me! I live by one of the biggest distributors in the US though too... Why pay 50k, when I can get the same one for 30k?)
As for the performance- I was invited to one of their track days at Gingerman and got to do about 10 laps in the owners... and I tell you what- like the S2000... Car and Driver/Magazine racing does not do it justic whatsoever!
We all know the S2k is capable of #'s significantly better then magazines propose... the Elise is essentially of the same mold and often is not driven to the extent of its true capabilities! I honestly felt like I was driving a turbo'd S2k when doing laps...
So long story short- just like a couple bad drivers ruin OUR reputations... this car is capable of the same problems... and literally we should not be able to touch it...
