I guess I haven't been going to the right street races. The last one I went to was in San Jose, CA...and man, the Japanese cars (Integras, Eclipses, Z's, etc.) all got their asses handed to them by the 'stangs and especially the Z28 Camaros. There weren't any S2Ks there, but I'm sure the Z28 would have killed it. 95% of rice out there is all show and no go. I'm sure the 5% that is modified to hell will in fact destroy an S2K, but then we're getting off the topic here. The original post was talking specifically about stock vehicles. Hell, spend enough money on a Civic HX and it'll best a new 911 Turbo in the 1/4, but then again, who cares.


BTW, for the record: I love my S2K...I'm not trying to knock the car b/c I think it rocks!

 

hah, I guess not. Well my friend's from Hayward and was telling me the San Jo races are kinda wack. He goes to UCD and I guess he goes to races up there around the Sac area.

But this is his car, Civic Type R motor...



He even put on a Si exhaust to keep it as much of a sleeper as possible cuz I hear people are getting referee tickets up there.

But anyways, all motor CTR, 1/4=12.87

i hear about how great the new m3 is. the other day i was driving beside one, chekcing it out. it was like local road, goinng 30 or 40, and we're moving up on a slow car in the m3's lane. so he tries to make a move to cut me off and pass the guy. he gets half lenght on me before i launch and force him behind me. then i'm weaving through traffic, he's no clue how to drive because i'm just toying with him. finally we got to red light, and he's looking over smiling at me. he actually starts before the green, so he gets a car lenght on me. i start moving up on him, to my surprise (since the m3 is supposd to be such hot shit), and i'm passing him as he bails for the next light. then he turns off to the right, cuz i guess he didn't want to look me in the face after being embarrased like that!

another time i was passing this old man midlife crisis driving a viper gts. he didn't like when i pass him on a mountain road, so he comes roaring up on my ass. you should a seen his face while he try to keep up through curves!

i also raced a few 996 cabrios before, usually give em a good run but get my ass kicked. but i race any of the cars on your list any time any where.

 

a supra TT? i thought that a Stock TT was just as fast as an s2k?

 

S2Krocks, what car do you have and what mods? if any.
Also, where in Irvine do you live?

I love people with nice expensive sports cars and don't know how to drive them, makes me laugh my ass off. It's one thing if they're just cruisin, but when they try to race but don't know how to drive correctly, it makes me laugh.

 

I usually avoided those posts and restrain myself from replying.

 

shingles- I agree on your point. Some "econo-box" hybrids are quick! (B-series and SRDET variations)! I would agree that 10% of the times you might see a hybrid these days.

Thank you for making my point so very very clearly. The new M3 will handily whip the S2K's ass any day of the week (given equal drivers). You also missed my point...the driver of the M3 you so handily beat probably did suck (as integrate points out), but it's still nothing to brag about.

You also nicely refute your own point by claiming that 996 Cabrios can beat you. Guess what? The 996 Cabrio is slower than a new M3.

So, put me behind the wheel of the new M3 and I will race you in your S2K. Then we'll see who wins.

I will admit though that a viper through the twisties is nothing special, and the S2K will handily lose a viper through tight roads. The local M5 club here was recently completely blown away by the handling and agility of the S2K that one of their members brought along for comparison (no, it wasn't me...a friend of mine in the M5 club told me about it).

boston, i think you are the one who miss the point. you obviously spend too much time looking at magazines and thinking "oh this car does 4.8 and that one does 5.2". i don't know how your suppose to watch camaros killing japanese cars in san jose when your from boston but maybe you should get your nose out of the latest C&D and actually drive a car.
