Code3Smith:

In your scenario, I'm assuming you're racing with other cars in your class, right? So if you're racing a whole field of other cars that by the rule book are evenly matched, then driver skill is a huge part of it, and of course you should commend the driver.

However, racing some schmo on the street in a non-controlled environment and bragging about a questionable victory is just ridiculous. In a real race (including illegal street racing), the two opponents are clearly trying to race each other and have a defined point where they both shut down. In the majority of the street "races" that I see posted either here or on other forums, there's no such thing. It's ususally some guy claiming he beat some super exotic car or bike to the next light or where he thinks the 1/4 mile mark is and then claiming a "kill."

And I agree, we do own a fast car, but it's not the fastest car out there by a pretty far margin. So all I'm saying is let's inject a bit of reality into the situation.

Location Location Location!!!!! If you are in Washington or po-dunk, Iowa you may NEVER run into a fast "ricer". In Cali, it`s a different story. I think twice about EVERY car that may want to run me at stoplight. In my area, 11-12-13 second Hondas are a dime a dozen.

"-- in the motto of my old Oxford college, "Effortless Superiority".

Now that is a weak ass quote that would of course come from a dude who drives a big-bodied Benz. Old school is right. Everyone in my family over 40 drives one. And some are even AMG versions!

Anyways, out of the cars BostonS2K listed, I'd say a Tiptronic Porsche, minus the Turbo, would be fair game stock v. stock. But, yeah, any races against the rest of the list would be pretty unrealistic. It'd be like the Civic Si models trying to race us.

Mostly true but here some food for thought:

1.) Toy TT Supra never ran the 4.9 0-60 as first tested. Why? Prototypes originally tested by all the mags are often, as in this case, modified (tuned up or down) before production models actually roll out. The TT Supra production model ran a 5.3 0-60 not the published 4.9
I smoked one (modified) numerous times with my '96 Pont Ram-air. We went first from a dead stop then a high speed roll. If that weren't enough we did another dead stop run. 2-3 cars ahead in a fairly short distance. '96 Pont mods only Borla ext, K&N, B&M shift.

2.) Never had the pleasure of the new 335-hp Beamer M but I spank the legendary 240-hp all the time. Normally 1-3 cars light-to-light. There like as_holes down here, "Everyone's got one" and never had one come close to me yet.

3.) Raced a heavily modified turbo Civic the other day and although I bet him twice, when that damn turbo kicked he narrowed my lead drastically until he ran out of steam. In other words he went from 3+ cars back to edging up on my rear fender before he had no more and I began to inch farther ahead. We did this twice. He was pretty cool.... after that at a traffic light he commented on how he liked my exhaust and how he was surprised my car was so fast. I guess this was his first S2 attempt. He also told me he worked at a local auto parts store and to stop by.

As for a Porshe Turbo or Viper they'd be so far ahead of you he'd be at home reading his e-mail and newpaper when you were still looking for 6th gear.

Like other Benzers, AMG cars are designated by the body class (the letter code) and numerical engine displacement code, however the AMG cars use a two-digit (rather than the standard-model Mercedes three-digit) motor code.

Successively, the AMG cars are the C36 (3.6L in-line 6 in the compact C sedan body '95 -'97), C43 (4.3L V-8 in the same C body, '98-'00), E55 (5.5L V-8 in midsize E sedan, '99 - present), ML55 (same engine in ML SUV, '00 to present), CL55 (5.5L V-8 in full-size coupe, '01 - present). S55 (5.5L V-8 in full-size S class sedan, '01 - present) and CLK55 (5.5L V-8 in compact CLK coupe, '01 - present).

You know it's funny... (well let me start by saying I do NOT street race)... but around here, no one wants to race the beaters, especially the beater looking crx's.

As for actual driving, as I mentioned in my last reply to you: put me behind the wheel of any of the cars I've listed and we'll see who wins.
Yea, everyone knows Z28s, SS's are quick, as well as a lot of other American muscle cars, but of course, you can do mods to any car and beat a lot of american muscle cars.

It's all about the mods you do I guess.

It sounds like you're just targeting the drivers now. It's true that a lot of people who can afford Ferraris or Porsches are older and probably wiser, so they don't find a need to race a stupid punk in a Honda to prove himself.

Just because a person in a Ferrari doesn't race you to the point of insanity on a public road doesn't mean you beat him. Now please go take your medication before you hurt yourself.
Agreed...I had a chance to talk to a very cool, old guy who owned 2 360 Modenas at Zupans Classic Auto show in Portland. He had a red one and a really awesome maroon colored one. I was gawking over his car....I asked him if he liked it..his answer "it's ok." I told him I just got an S2000. He said. " That is a really great car!" and started asking me about it, but i digress. There is no way that guy is gonna race some turd in an S2000 on the highway or city streets. He has nothing to prove. He has grown up around racing and done it all his life...it is nothing special to him...other then it gave him a love and appreciation for cars. Just because someone doesn't want to race your punk ass...doesn't mean he
a) is a worse driver then you
b) doesn't have "balls"
or c) you car is any match for his in any way.

Maybe the guy has grown up a little...maybe you should also.
