I have gone into the Nissan dealership once or twice when waiting to look at a 350Z. I went in on Friday night to try to see if they had gotten any of the "top" track models in yet.

This dealership is right next to a Honda dealership and they are both owned by the same person. (Russ Darrow Honda/Nissan) When talking to one of the sales managers (i know everyone because the general manager of both dealerships is a family friend) he said that they did not have the new track version yet. I told him I heard they had 7 350Z's pre-sold so far.

Here's the best part: He said, yes they did, HOWEVER....

This is about the guy who had ordered the 1st 350Z..... , he came in and drove the car, and he CANCELLED his order after test driving it. He then walked over to the Honda dealer next door and put a deposit down and bought an S2000.

That 350Z was then test driven by the other people who had pre-ordered one, and one of them eventually took delivery. However, the 2 other people that test drove this particular 350Z have CANCELLED their 350Z orders. So now only 3 are presold at this time. One of the other 2 that cancelled their order has ALSO test driven an S2000 and is considering buying it....

I'm not surprised! Although I haven't drove it yet, I was able to get up close and in one yesterday. It was a pearl white Touring model.
I can say the car looked better in person than in the pix. From more than one angle it commands attention and looks outstanding. A few personal observations, however:
1.The door handles and side mirror assemblies looked CHEAP.
2.The seats were great, Bose stereo makes me jealous (yes my S is still stock).
3. Everything else in the interior looked inferior, to me!
I am sooooo glad I've got my S!

I have seen 2 up close and in person now. One at a dealer and one driving on the road.
The one at the dealer was silver. The one on the road was red.
....Not impressed at all. I really thought i would be. I want to like the Z...I just don't. Granted I have not driven one yet..that will be the real test.
I would like to test drive a track model.

The cars lines are just not that attractive at all. it looks like some psuedo-futuristic experiment gone wrong...not impressed. The S2000, RX-7 and Supra are all much better looking Japanese sports cars. Looks are totally subjective, but I just didn't care for it...my opinion of course. Also, looks play a distant second to performance to me so i am still hopeful about the Z. But reading this thread does not make me feel better.
