I've got a friend whom always races me no matter which cars we have. He came into my work tonite, seeing as how he just got his LS1 back. (he had broken the synchro for 4th...?? freak accident) His car is stock. We went to a local road where there is no houses and nothing but fields for a good straight 1 mile stretch. There is a point we start from and go to a speed limit sign (ironically) to race a 1/4 mile.

We went for best of 3. The first race, we both bogged starts. (as much as that can happen in an LS1 i guess) He took me by about 2 lengths by 1/4 mile. The next race we both got decent starts (mine a little better) and I got a good length or so on him right away, he pulled hard though at 1/4 mile his front bumper was at my door. The last race, it was even starts all around, again i got a slight lead, but not as much, and at 1/4 mile my front bumper was at his rear wheels. So he takes the best of 3 for tonight.

 

congrats! those results are closer to what I would have expected from an expertly driven S2k compared to a bone stock LS1.
