We know there are modified LS1s in the 12's, 11's, even 10's, but that's not what the discussion is about. Personally, I don't think you'll even find a bone stock LS1 through the internet, or through the Houston car clubs. Anyone with that level of knowledge about their car would be silly to not make the "free" mods that are giving +30HP.

Therefore, with the reputation of the S2k on the line, I'm not willing to race against any potentially modded LS1's. Good luck to anyone who does, though!
Dead issue. The LS1-powered F-body is a performance monster and perhaps the world's finest bang for buck automobile currently being sold in the US. HOW one defines performance can definitely cloud comparisons between the Camaro/Firebird as many individuals define handling and tossibility as marks of performance while others want to go from point A to point B (which in their case, usually means a straight line) in the shortest time possible. If you belong to group A, the S2000 will make you deliriously happy and not disappoint you terribly on those occasions you fancy yourself morphing into a group B driver.
Both of these automobiles can be made to satisfy either group, but it sure is hell going to be more difficult making the S2K as quick as the LS1 F-body while only marginally difficult making the latter handle as well as an S2K.
I'm a car enthusiast first and S2K owner second. My allegiance is to the craft, not the car. Some of you guys need a reality check. With all the proof reasonably submitted, there are still those who won't admit that the automotive pecking order in US acceleration doesn't have the S2K listed anywhere at the top, where in fact, bone stock, showroom LS1's reside. No break in period needed....no baby driving required for the first 1000 miles. Buy the car, drive the car. Take it to the strip with the damn dealer sticker still in the window and the automobile's capability to return a 13.4 or less 1/4 mile is as certain as the hump in the right passenger foot well.
S2000's off the showroom floor running these kind of times don't exist.
Anywhere.
Now...I believe this is the part where Judge Warpner would slam down the gavel and move on to the next case.

OKay. You are missing a big part.
I saw Wes not dropping clutch above 6000RPM because he is worried about the differential.
I saw his timeslips 1/4time posted on the board. It was around high 13's to low 14's. He could have gotten low 13's with better reaction time.
What it means it that stock S2000 can pull that time, too. So, unless you do a rolling start, you'll see no difference with stock S2000 and Wes S2000 on the track for 1/4 mile.
I am pulling 13.8 14.00 with no tires. If I put a drag radials, I think I can get better time.
On the track, modified SS and Z28s were running low to mid 13's.
We'll see this coming Sunday.
