Well said Insomniak. Glen, why not just drop it. Do your 10 races, or 3. It isn't going to stop the kill stories because on the street, as you well know, anything can happen. There are perhaps one or two people in this enormous thread that have said an S2000 can run anywhere close to an LS1 straight up. No one, to my knowledge, has asserted that an S2K can take an LS1 in a fair fight.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the whole reason you started this thread was in response to kill stories on LS1's, right? This thread, whatever the outcome of your races, isn't going to change that. Maybe people will append, "bad driver" on the end of their kill story, but that's about it. And street racing is a lot of driver. Otherwise, what's the point of racing a normally slower car against a faster one (S2K vs. LS1)? Unless your sharking someone for $$$ that doesn't know any better.

OKay. You are missing a big part.
I saw Wes not dropping clutch above 6000RPM because he is worried about the differential.

Just a FYI.......your reaction times plays not part at all in your 1/4 mile time. The timers don't start until you break the beams.

My point was simply this. With me in the LS1 car and any other living or dead human being driving the S I'd bet I win at least 95% of the races from a dead stop and 99% of them from a roll. It's not even remotely fair. The LS1 is going to win every single run barring some bizarre mechanical failure.

Rasputin-

As far as the LS1.com thread I had already spoken to that guy via PM and he told me he wouldn't make it because he had plans with his girlfriend. The smiley face added was a strong indication that I was joking. I know for certain that the LS1 is going to win there's absolutely no need to slant the tables in it's favor. If fact I say bring a i/e/h S and let's run it against a LS1 ... won't matter at all. You can see from the rest of the thread that I specifically asked for stock LS1 camaros. I even turned a WS6 ram air car away because it makes more power than the Camaros. I did in fact make efforts to locate a 100% stock LS1 but unfortunately I don't keep one in my back pocket. You will also notice that I mentioned several times that it was all in good fun. Not any money on these races and merely for the purpose of settling an arguement.

Additionally I have never called BS on any single encounter as I know damn well what can happen on the streets. Anyone can win any single encounter. What utterly amazes me is when the S drivers think they are supposed to win or have any more than a slim to none chance of winning any straight line speed contest with a LS1 powered vehicle. There's a big difference between pride in your vehicle of choice and blind foolishness. I'd be interested to see if any of you ... including yourself ... would like to take me up on my offer of bone stock to bone stock right off the showroom floor racing. I could use $1,500 and there's no way in hell I'd lose a single race. Anyone wanna put their money where their mouth is?? Care to prove me wrong?? I have given you a sure fire stock versus stock comparison. Who's going to step up??

Insomniak - thanks for coming out and it was good meeting you. You seem like a cool dude and an all around nice person. This was not intended in anyway to trick you or tilt the tables against you. I'm more than happy to let you find a LS1 and arrange something with him for Saturday night. I had never met AJ before or even seen his car. I heard he was stock and asked him to come run. This was arranged in good faith.

Russ - You are obviously 100% correct and your explanation is dead solid perfect. I could not have said it any better. I too am a car enthusiast first and foremost. I actually prefer carb'd small block chevy's to the LS1 platform as that's what I cut my teeth on. As a performance enthusiast (fanatic you might say) I bothers me to see other enthusiasts disseminating incorrect information. When I see S drivers telling other S drivers that if they would just drive better that they could run door to door or even beat LS1 powered cars I feel like I have to speak up. <This is obviously not directed to you as I'd be preaching to the choir> A properly driven LS1 powered car will beat the S with any living or dead human being behind the wheel.

Glen - no prob, good to meet you too. i'd set it up.. but i think the only place i'd have luck finding a completely stock SS is at a dealership. Even then i don't think it would prove anything that hasn't already been stated..

I am seeing a lot of the same things being said by the same people. I think it's getting kinda old even for me. It's back and for with the same things over and over. In an even race, with even starts and even drivers. An LS1 camaro should beat an S. Bottom line. Does it always happen that way? No. they are close enough that driver/reaction can turn the tables.
