at lower speeds *hanging* with the m3 is doable depending on what speed they stop at due to the weight and gearing advantage of the s2000. but yeah a simple 60mph roll the s2k would be toast from the get-go due to obvious power deficits.

Most are around 270ish RWHP bone stock which is not a great deal more than the S considering the weight difference but the aggressive gearing and the fatter torque make the M3 much easier to drive fast. Due to the S2000's lack of torque and having to wait on the power to 'kick in'...it makes it a much less forgiving car to drive in a race situation.

Yeah that's always ticked me off but it's typical of the German manufacturers. Coming from a primarily Honda/Acura back ground where you basically by a certain trim level and it's optioned accordingly. My M3 was $45K base and $55K and it's not loaded with all of the options. My 335 carried a base of $39K and it was $48K after options and it's not loaded either. MB, Porsche and Audi to some extent do things the same way. It's nice to see that some of the Japanese luxury marks are heading down that path as well...levels the playing field a bit. An IS350 at $10K cheaper than a comparable 335 has a distinct advantage for many...when that price difference shrinks to about $2K like it is now the IS loses that advantage.

nice race! but most of people here know that stock s2k can't hang with M3 specially if it's coupe. i had 06 ap2 before, and now i have 2003.5 M3 vert. it is totally different balls.
