You're wrong.

I'm pretty sure all E36 M3's came with 240hp.
two different displacements, 3.0 and 3.2, both the same horsepower, but the 3.0 had 225fl/lbs and the 97+ had 236... sounds rather similar to another vehicle...

i have 240hp 236ft lbs of torque stock vs stock my s2000 was quicker because of the weight difference. With both having same mods intake, exhaust, and test pipe it was a driver's race. My e36 gave my s2000 a run for my money especially as speeds increased m3>s2000. piecing the turbo together for the m3 soon as i finish with the s2000 I think my e36 will take out the majority of n/a s2000's. Then when its turbo 3.2 I6 motor cam'd and its going to take out alot of cars with some weight reduction.

It's a shame that e36 body style has aged so fast.

I still think it looks good though.

Man, the E36 M is a great car. Love it. Looks so aged, though. Then again, so do the E46 models today.

I'd do the v8 just alot of money and time. I'd rather do an ls1 in mys2000. Money is hard to get time is even harder. Im very impatient i like to get projects moving. The car is 10 years old this year! It has never ever been painted all original paint. Someone posted a e36 with a v8 in another thread Boy i'd love to throw an Ls6 in there on the bottle i just need time to do the research and figure out how to make it work. The 50/50 weight distribution and the handling makes up for the boxy style to me.

smg's are e46's, and are quicker. Driver is always the biggest factor. Those smg transmissions can be tuned to shift even quicker. I say e46 m3's w/ bolt on's and a tune will beat a s2000 at any speeds unless they got f/i
