Whats S2k Homies


I recently ran against my buddies 01 AP1 with 4.77 gears and I think one of the K&N intakes/or drop in filters.

I have AEM v2, Apexi Gt single (diameter of piping is smaller then stock;60mm)
and fabricated TP.

We ran off a 10mph roll and he did not pull away from me AT all. Even when I missed 2nd , I was quick enough to get back in the game and he pulled maybe a bumper but once I went into 3rd....I pulled, but I really pulled like 2 cars and then more.

We ran 2x since I let him know that I missed 2nd and he informed me that he missed 3rd.

Both times same result, I won while missing 2nd.

Is this normal ?

I had this Notion that he was going to WHORE me because thse 4.77's make a big diff.


What cha think ?

he either had them installed wrong, cant drive, or something is terribly wrong with his car. 4.77's pull 16% harder in EVERY gear, which includes 6th gear. he should've obliterated you.

 

in theory yes. but in order for gears to make the advantage they do on paper the driver needs to SHIFT THE HELL outta them. i slow shifted 4.57/7 car will get pulled by a 4.10 car. also 4.77 KILL you above 100 or so. they make most of their advantage below 100. ive beaten two geared s2ks.

 

Hmmmm...Some of the S2kers in my area who know us (me and My buddy) state that its because of the fact that we didnt start Off the dig?


Some say that I have more power to be able to compensate for his quick accel. I dont believe this, although he does have about 188WHP?


(oh I probably didnt say that I Popped my clutch...hehehe) since when we were rolling I heard his car in like Vtec..lol I popped mine and jumped right into Vtec

i definitely see your point. i'm actually about to get a set so i'll be able to tell. i'm a very fast shifter and a very good driver of the S2000. i'm going to make a video of me racing a few of my friend's cars from a 10 roll BEFORE and AFTER the 4.77's. i'll also make a video of my speedometer from a rolling start to 120 with the 4.10's and the 4.77's. since driving won't be an issue on my part, everyone will get to see what they can or cant do in the real world (not just on paper)

P.S. i'm also making a video today of the J's 70RR headerback exhaust because when i was searching for one beofre i bought the exhaust i found ZERO of people actually driving. so i'll give everyone a vid for potential buyers

 

Well, so is there NO way that my car can beat a 4.77 geared s2k ?

Even though my car is 80 lbs lighter,and 30whp more ?

with him having that much less whp than you that would make a drastic difference. im sure his poor driving had a little to do with it, but if hes only making 188 whp and you're making 214 thats a big gap in power. the gears can only do so much.

i think with a better driver for his car, yall should be about equal or he should pull you slightly. if you both had the same whp numbers and he had the 4.77's and you had the 4.10's, he'd destroy you
