Modded 03 AP1 Vs Geared 01 AP1

with him having that much less whp than you that would make a drastic difference. im sure his poor driving had a little to do with it, but if hes only making 188 whp and you're making 214 thats a big gap in power. the gears can only do so much.
i think with a better driver for his car, yall should be about equal or he should pull you slightly. if you both had the same whp numbers and he had the 4.77's and you had the 4.10's, he'd destroy you

lol
I will admit that he pulled more then any other STOCK s2k. I run stock s2ks and I pull 1 car in 1st gear, then 1 1/2 in 2nd and once I get to 6k in 3rd im getting 3 to 4 lengths and then some.
My buddie actually stood with me 1st-2nd and once I got into third I pulled 1-2 car lengths and he let off.
Hmmm, should I get the gears then ?
He wants to sell them to me actually, that why we ran it.
you've got a true 14% advantage by whp (214/188=1.14) and the advantage in 4.77s is 16% until you shift, then its reversed and back and forth through the shift points. the true improvement is considerably less than 16% after 1st gear because of this. I've seen it calculated out with ratios at each shift point for 4.10 and 4.77, but basically, the 16% assumption neglects that when he shifts to 2nd, you're still in first for a moment, and you have the advantage until you hit 2nd, when he takes over again.
But it sounds like he shifts slow and you dropped the clutch to start. In this case, he's toast, plain and simple, even if he had a full 16% advantage, because 16-14%=2% advantage=a lot less advantage than your jump start or the slow/bad shifts makes.

Im no where near at math to be doing calculations...but lets see, my advantage over a modded ap1 against my modded AP1 AND gears would be an extra 16% (if I shift correctly)
heres the Scenario :
Any M3 , Masda Speed , or EVO!!
lol
Vs.
Me (when tuned at 230 WHP and possibly more when going ITB)
and gears ?
I have never got next to an evo yet..I don think my baby is ready for that
i dunno , I just want to beat most moderatly upgraded cars..
thats all!

Well, so is there NO way that my car can beat a 4.77 geared s2k ?
Even though my car is 80 lbs lighter, and 30whp more ?
Damn I feel bad now..LOL

Why did you even ask us?He has 4.77 gears but you have the power advantage over him. If you had the same power level as his, he would've pulled on you.
And no, you do not have 30rwhp over him, unless his car only makes 185rwhp.
you also have more HP at redline. MY00-01 ECU richens up like a MOFO from 8100-9000RPM. After peak HP at 8300, power falls off the map. MY02-03 ECU's were leaned out, and it resulted in close to 15rwhp at redline over a similar MY00-01. Peak power is the same, but the MY02-03 powerband is smoother.
Sounds about right, as you have the ECU advantage and you are also probably getting 5-10hp from the intake/tp/exhaust combo. Either of you running aftermarket rims?
