Derick,
I know there is a huge temptation to "have the coolest car" in high school. One that is fast and looks good. However you will never win this game. While your dad is willing to spend 30k on a car..some other kids dad is gonna by him a 40k car. Also there will be kids with corvettes/stangs that are faster, and other great cars. It is a stupid game to get into, and so short sighted.
In a year or two you will go to college..and what then? Yeah you will have a 2 year old S2000..and nowhere to park it. Every time you do park it, there will be dings. Drunk college guys will even bang up your car as they are jealous or just drunk and it seemed like something to do. Whenever you go someplace..you will always be a passenger..as unless your friends are dwarves..only two people total can sit in the car.
Worst of all...in college noone will give a rats ass that you have an S2000. Girls will not be impressed that you have nice car unless it is very expensive..and I am not even sure then. It just is not what college is about. You will never hear someone say "thats Derick..he has an S2000" as in college you are not measured by what your dad bought you. Instead it will be "thats Derick..he can drink like a fish" ..or "that guy plays football" or "thats the guy who slept with that really hot girl!"
..or even "that guy is ridiculously smart".
I know it is hard..but look beyond the next two years of highschool and to what is really important...College.
Get a car with 4 doors..it makes all the difference. Get something with some pep..but also that will fit 4 to 5 guys on a roadtrip to Vegas comfortably. Something nice looking..but not something that people are going to say "he is just a rich kid" or "spoiled".
I think the A4 and WRX both fit this category. As well as a bunch of SUVs. Then again it is a difficult thing to look forward, and see what you need in the future. It will all be good either way.

A4 is great. S4 even better. The quattro is awesome, especially for boarding/skiing in the mountains, and in the rain. Both are way more practical than the S2k (and they are very safe cars). I'm jealous . I got a 10 year old dodge pickup with the bed rusted out when I was 16. That thing left me stranded more times than I can count.

i say if you get the s2k then be careful in it until u have more experience with rwd high performance sports cars. U are lucky that your dad is getting u such a sweet toy, there will always be jealous people out there though, so u gotta watch out. I mean i just got an rsx, it's nothing compared to a s2k, but even still, i'va had people resent that i have it and they'll even swear or spit at my car, that's just how some people are that are jealous that you have something they can never own.
Anyways, good luck with your decision, and if i were u, I would stick with the s2k, just remember, be safe!

Speaking about people being jealous about cars... I completely agree with that. You can never be too good, or too bad for your community... always equal . If you want to buy a car to impress someone, don't do it. Buy a car that will impress YOU! If you're going to be "too good" for your community... please use hush hush . But if you want to impress a girl... now that's another subject

Another option.. how about buy a cheap.. reliable car like a Honda Civic.. pay 100-200 dollars monthly, and ask your dad to pay you the difference of the monthly cost for an S2k and the Civic? Assume a S2k will cost 600/month, you'll be getting $500 to 400 a month in PURE cash! woohoo! Then save that money up and get yourself a C6 Z06 or whatever car you want after you graduate from college and have a job?
