No...God no. It doesn't take a lot of mods or a lot of money. They are THE budget straight line car.

The fox likely had only minor bolt-ons like intake/exhaust if you're pulling 2 cars from 55-80. What makes you think it had a cam?

Edit: It should be noted that a lot of them are not only high mileage, but have been abused. They're not all in great running condition.

Oh and there's an old saying: The bigger the cowl, the slower the Mustang. While a cowl hood can be functional, it's mostly done to appear fast. And they call us Honda owners ricers...
Well his car is just tired.. Not much else I can say about that..

But anyways I think it had a cam or cams (not sure how many those motors require) because my uncle has a bolt on fox body and this red one had a different rumble to it.. So cams was my assumption.. But I know they usually don't get out of the 13's with bolt ons and gears unless they have spray or some other forced induction on that POS iron block 5 liter..

He might think I got nitrous from the way I yanked him especially after I got back up to 6k from that silly speed he gave me..

Good kill, but yeah...dont assume fox's are slow.

The only car Ive ever lost to in my other car was a stock looking fox. It just toyed with me. It pulled me so hard I couldn't believe it.

A little while later, I got a race in my S against a single turbo supra (just for shits and giggles...I knew I would lose). It was about the same pwnage, me standing still. I think the 5.0 I raced could have held his own against the supra that kicked my ass.

It's possible this is the biggest lie ever told. While they may be slow in stock form by today's standards they are relatively light weight and very cheap to make very fast. There's a reason you will see a lot of them at the drag strip.
You see alot of them at the drag strip because they have an ideal drive train especially rear end and suspension - there are guys into the 7's with a basically stock suspension setup

As far as the 5.0 fox's are concerned my point is very valid 1st generation 5.0 mustangs made a whopping 150hp in a 3300 pound car - thats not a light weight car. It did have 250lb ft of tq which meant it could hit 60 in 7 seconds

As time went on the performance has obviously gotten better through mods made by ford but it never got close to the power to weight ratio of the s2000.

The last gen 1993 model a mere 205 hp and ran the same 7 seconds to 60

You can do alot to them IHE and tune to bump it up over 300 hp and then they will be able to match the s2k but that's not fast.

IHE tuning and a super charger now youve spent 3x more than the car will ever be worth but your 450hp is now enough to be fast. mid to low 11's with slicks.

Right, it's a great platform.

Any car after 86' (larger production numbers) had 205hp and the earlier low HP cars (which mostly weren't 150hp models, you're trying to downplay the numbers) weighed closer to 2900. 3100-3200 would be a more accurate curb weight for a late model fox.

As time went on the performance has obviously gotten better through mods made by ford but it never got close to the power to weight ratio of the s2000.
Your original statement was about how "slowwwwwwwww" they are and how they take a lot to go fast. Not stock cars.

You can do alot to them IHE and tune to bump it up over 300 hp and then they will be able to match the s2k but that's not fast.
Intake (which I assume includes a GT-40 manifold since it's a common and easy bolton)/Tune/Exhaust/Tires = low to mid 13s trapping between 103-106mph in the Mustang. That's considerably faster than our cars for really cheap.

IHE tuning and a super charger now youve spent 3x more than the car will ever be worth but your 450hp is now enough to be fast. mid to low 11's with slicks.
So $3000 mustang + $4500 in mods (not 3x the value of the car) = low 11s fairly reliably. Not a bad budget racer.

He told my boy he's bone stock.. With a really bad exhaust leak..

And that I wouldn't slow down enough on the interstate for him to get a good roll with his auto since he was in overdrive.. But I slowed down to match his desired speed.. WTF?? If he wanted to slow down more he could have after he knew I was taking the bait.. But I mean how much slower are you trying to go on the interstate??
