Intake (which I assume includes a GT-40 manifold since it's a common and easy bolton)/Tune/Exhaust/Tires = low to mid 13s trapping between 103-106mph in the Mustang. That's considerably faster than our cars for really cheap.
So $3000 mustang + $4500 in mods (not 3x the value of the car) = low 11s fairly reliably. Not a bad budget racer.

5K is alot of money to add to a car to make it quick - total dollars with car isnt the point it's total dollars spent when you have the car and spending 3-4x what the car might be worth is alot, 5K is alot.
With 5K you can do aem v2, custom full exhaust, hytech header, aem ems tuning, final drive upgrade and still have enough money for a set of wide wheels, tires and some parts of suspension.
If this is just a thread about performance per dollar you can get 07 cbr 600rr's now for 4800 do 0-60 in 3 seconds and the 1/4 in 10.4 stock and kill everything.

you can buy a fox body 5.0 right now for 700-1500 in varying condition - add the 4500 to some tires 5K and it is triple the price.

Find me a $1500 fox body. Your just proving my point further if you do.
A better argument would be, "for 5k you can turbo an S2000 and make about 350whp". How's that?
lol @ even bringing up a bike. Talk about comparing apples to the moons of Jupiter.
I see we're just getting further away from your original post which has been disproved by multiple members, so
Ran a fox body (not the same one) on Sunday night.. He was as the line as soon as I went to park so I just lined up with him.. Didn't know his mods until after he kicked my arse but whatever..
I outlaunched him (like a car or so).. Then when he got into 2nd he started making his ground back up.. Consistently pulled me until the finish line and got me by a car and a half..
Mods on the 5.0 fox :
Intake/headers/exhaust
Cam
Gears
It was much faster than the stock one that I ran on the interstate.. But I really got him on the launch.. With drag radials that car would be a monster out of the hole against cars similar to my class
