My S2000 VS. GS400!!!!
Today I just got my x brace in and installed it myself. After the install I decide to take my S out for a test spin. So im cruising minding my own buisness. I get to a stop light and see two you guys in my rear view mirror in what looks like a brand new GS400, I say new because it didn't have plates yet. They start reving hard and I can hear the intake "VROOOOOMM" it sounded VERY deep. I knew right then that "its gonna be one in a min" Now keep in mind Im stock. We start to go and he just flys right pass me, I didn't want to run yet as we were in alot of traffic, so I just let him take point and follow. So we were at a light and I was right behind him, he peels off and I gun it to follow. I didn't peel or anything, just accelerated fast enough not to peel out. Due to his torque he pulled fast, but by the time I hit mid 3rd gear I start to gain on him. We'reflying, as I pass him I can hear his intake sucking away. I thought we were done so I turned on to another road to head home, he follows!!!! We then take another run at it, this time from a rolling start of about 25mph and this time we were dead even until I start to get to the end 3rd I didn't even floor it anymore, but for whatever reason he didn't pull away as I thought he would. We then take another turn on to another street and I look in my mirror and I see him pulling over with his emergency blinkers on. I am now stopped at a light and watching him as he and his buddy pop the hood and both get out of the car to check his engine as if something was wrong. Not sure what happened maybe he blew somthing.
Not too sure, but didn't the GS400 get replaced by the 300hp GS430? Anyways, those cars do 0-60 in about 6 seconds, i think. So a stock S2k shoul be able to beat it. For some dumb ass reason, a lot of new lexus owners think their cars are so incredibly fast. I get a lot of guys wanting to race my m3, probably thinking they're about to dust a 330. One time an IS300 even tried to race me. Pleeeeeeeeease. I smoke those with my slightly modded integra. Anyways, not saying anything wrong with Lexus cars, but people should know that they were not build to race. They are made to have 300hp simply because Mercedes has gone in that direction and they don't wanna fall behind. With that said, Lexus are fine cars, just not for racing.
I think S2k's are great as a weekend car...I don't mind getting one, if the price drops a tad bit lower
However, don't underestimate some of those IS3's as turbo kits are dropping in price like a rock
Otherwise, good kill
I too nearly had to check my engine (LS4) after I going dead-even with a GT from 70 mph roll to 125...not bad for a car with 175,xxx miles with original tranny and loaded with 3 passengers and 100+ lbs of equipment
edit: We are having the official Lexus, Team Lexus and ClubLexus meet this weekend @ California Speedway. I'll upload the offical video sometime next week.
