Default MY00 vs Carrera S Cabriolet

I was cruisin with my roommate, top down, and we get caught at a light. Traffic was moderate, and within it a silver porsche, top down, makes its left turn in front of us. the young guy gives a hard look at my car (typical) and continues on his way. well, give or take 10 seconds later, just before our light goes green, the same guy is coming back from the direction where he had just gone and turns into my lane. he must have done one heck of a U-turn to pull that off. now my light goes green.

i was forced to take off slow due to a cop on the other side of the road. as soon as i cleared the intersection i mashed it at 6000 rpm and he apparently does the same (i couldn't hear his engine over mine). i'm already a buslength behind him, with no cars in front of us. to my surprise he doesn't seem to gain an inch (neither do i). we take it through the middle of 3rd and he shuts down first. i creep past him approaching a light and look over, he doesn't even turn my way. it was at this time that i noticed the carrera S badge on the back (355hp, 0-60 in 4.7). now that we're confined in traffic we play around a bit, flooring it for milliseconds at a time; and i get a great idea, let's go to the parkway for some high speed racing.

bad decision. he follows me to the parkway and it's on. i took the outside lane and waited at 7k in 1st for him to come up (bad gear decision i know but it was that or 4k in 2nd). he shows no signs of evening up so i just gun it with him a car length back and he does too. i just watched as he sailed by and put 2 cars on me from about 35-90. i guess he wasn't pushing very hard in the 1st race.

Krazy,

You're right about the first race ... he wasn't trying even a bit

I got rid of my s2k about 5 months ago for a '06 Carrera S. While I loved my s2k, the Carrera is in a whole other league in terms of speed. On the other hand, for the ridiculous difference in $$$$ it really had better be Porsche is notoriously conservative on their published 0-60 times, so you can safely assume that even a moderately competent driver can do much better than 4.7 to 60.

No shame in losing to a faster car. Are you stock or modded?

Funny thing is that was the first race in my S!

It was the 03 I had. First time that odometer reads over 600 miles, the car in front of me was Carera Cabrio'!

Good dead. I still remember mine..

just aem intake. had also just gotten an oil change. i accidentally bought mobile 1 5w30, anyone know if that's gonna hurt at all? i don't think it will but the honda tech said it would affect cylinder pressures and compression if i used it long term.
