MY02 AP1 vs MY10 BMW 550i
So i was going down to the states with a buddy of mine (ya we're canadian), who just bought a new car and wanted to see how fast it was compared to mine. He always wanted an S2000 but his wife says no
Location was on the I5 at around 8pm, completely deserted straight stretch of road going to Portland.
We started from a standstill, on 3 honks we go and he pulls 1.5 car lengths on me pretty much right away (i didn't launch, cause i still had to drive back haha) by second i shrunk the gap by half a car, and by third he was still a car ahead of me. Pretty much stayed that way up until around 100mph(160km/hr for my fellow canadians)
So now we decide to go from a 40km/hr roll, 3 honks and this time i'm actually pulling half a car on him, stayed that way pretty much until around 100mph.
My mods:
gutted airbox
17" wedsport wheels
lowered on KW v3 CS
Spoon ECU
Eibach Sway bars
Cusco Fr and Rr tower bars
Cusco ladder bar
Spare tire delete
Tools Delete
His mods:
Reflash (apparently Dinan)
19" HRE
Lowered on bilstein pss10s i think
So i'm actually really surprised, even though i know the 550i is heavy, like 3800lbs if i remember correctly. The Dinan reflash he says should bump his car to around 500-520 crank horsepower, but more importantly he has like 3x the torque! I know for sure that if we went to 4th or so he'd pull very very far from me. I guess weight and gearing makes a big difference.
Edit: he's also quite a hefty guy ~260lbs, and his wife was the passenger.

If you launched you'd win. But yeah, don't know that I would do that with your car that far from home.
A 550i weighs more like 4200 lbs. Still surprising they are as slow as they are up to 100 mph. But he could keep accelerating well past 150 mph.
Nice runs.

But the torque is just amazing! In stock form 460ftlb tq, his reflash brings it up to 510 or something O.O beastly.
2010 550i only makes 360hp. A chip tune on a normally aspirated motor will generally have fairly negligible results...outcome seems about right. The 550i should beat you pretty squarely after 100 though.
2011 got the twin turbo motor...and that traps 109 stock.

Sorry, he bought it last year but it is turbo, i assume he bought a 2011 in 2010
