Well for you Auto X'ers.. The SRT-4 scored 8th overall in the "One Lap of America" competition
It was only beaten by:
Corvette MTI Z07, SSGTI
Corvette ZO6, SSGTI
Viper SRT-10 SSGTI
Ruf RGT, SSGTI
Porsche 911 Turbo, SSGTI
Toyota Supra Turbo SSGTI
Corvette ZR-1, SSGTI
Oh yeah. the wrx and evo both got spanked dirty style too. And it won best in mid-price Sedan category and it "ain't" even a mid priced sedan!!! There were 94 other competitors. Oh yeah the car that was 50 points behind the srt was a Lambo Diablo.

I wouldn't start bashing their reliability yet....
The class they were in is called street prepared I think (might be street prepped, something like that), and they are up against the turbo eclipses, WRXs. The one with the stage one kit usually places in the top three, the other one is new and doesn
I'm not sure why people are bashing the Neon. Its a car built to a price. You get the engine, you give up some other things. That's the way of the world. What do you want?
As for the One Lap, you folks using that as an indicator of the SRT4's need to remember a couple things. One, as pointed out, the One Lap is primarily an amateur event. Two, the primary driver for the Neon was Eric Heuschele, who just happens to be a SCCA National Champion several times over and actually works for Dodge (on the SRT4 program if memory serves). So they had a few advantages over your garden variety participant who might choose to run the SRT4. Kind of like when the folks at Saturn turbocharged an SC2 and entered it and won their class. Factory support rules.
This does not mean that the SRT4 will not have a distinguished racing career, just that its a little too early to tell yet. The first B-stock championship for the S2000 did not cement its greatness, but the repeated wins at National events and a couple national titles have done a lot toward getting it there.
