You would probably be better off with the top on the airbox cooler air. Nice time!

The best I've heard for the Z is 13.9. I just got a Z about three weeks ago and haven't had a chance to take it to the track. On a side note, I visit this site because its better than the Z forums as far as participation. I started visiting this site when I was trying to decide between Z and S. Anyway, just my two cents.

its been proven that taking off the top of the airbox actually makes you slower.
Where is this "proof."

I think the word "proof" may be inappropriate in this discussion. One might be better to say the "evidence" points toward it being the case in certain circumstances.
In cases where the performance of the car is tested shortly after the temp gauge reaches 3 bars and before the engine bay has had time to heat up, removing the lid might just be "better". However, after the engine bay temps have risen (and I've documented that it can get up to as high as 60*C or more just driving around), the engine's performance suffers greatly.

It has been said (and I can't give you proof of who said it) that for every rise of 3*C of intake air temp, the engine "could" lose about 1% power). With the airbox lid off, the intake air would come from the path of least resistence and that would be from the area under the hood.

60*C??? The hell kind of measurement is that? What is this "C" after it???

Please, I don't understand!

Blake

(Yes, for those of you who can't read, and feel the urge to call me an idiot for not knowing what celsius is, I was poking fun at the American system of measurement.)
