i wouldn't race it till 1000 miles.. but thats up to you.

launching this car is very tricky.. from my experience i've found launching at 6.5 to 7k rpm is the sweet spot.. any less you bog.. any more you spin too much.. btw.. if the car drops below 6k rpm at any point during the launch you will bog.

most tend to let off the gas a little after taking off.. it takes getting use to but you have to drop at 6.5 to 7.. and continue to push down slowly until the tires hook up and your moving forward at which point nail it.

Blk01S2K:
I don't know exactly what you wanted to know. What to launch the car at or the entire process(101) of launching the S.
How many miles on the S? I think you'll have a little hard time trying to burn the *pony* if your car is not fully broken in yet. The car tend to gets faster as the milege pile up. But you still can hang with him no problem. Check the oil as often as you can, it eat up oils crazy(in some car) when you first start vtecing it.

Like Insomniak said. The sweet spot is at 6.5 or 7K rpm. I personally like the dumping technique. Just rev it to 6.5K and DUMP it. Pedal to the metal and shift at RED LINE. If you still bog at 6.5 try 7K. But I think you don't need to go more than 7K in most conditions. Whatch out for clutch slip. If the clutch is not catching, just let go of the gas or step on the clutch again. You'll get that lovely smells that everyone is talking about. Check your tires pressure, this is very important. I run 36psi in the rear and 38 in the front.
Hint: If you can't beat him from a stand still, get him to race you from a rolling start.. If i were you, I'll race him from a rolling start first, if you can beat him there, then try it from the standstill....
Hope this helps buddy. Get out there and get yourself a PONY...YEEE HAAAA...

This race is about even with the GT getting the nod due to an easier car to launch...300 ft lbs of torque. Both run Low to mid 14's at the track. You should take him in a roll on if your above 6k in 4 gear.

It all depends on what year mustang GT we are talking about if its pre 1999 and stock it shouldn't be a problem as long as you get a half ass launch. If it is 99+ and fully broken in with a decent driver and seeing that you are new at launching and your car is not broken in, he will hand you your ars.

Launching this car properly takes a lot of practice, just dumping the clutch isn't enough.
