Just ... wow.

I was going to write a mean sentence. Instead, please disgregard that post -- and the concept that torque is the singular determining factor of top speed. Aerodynamics, gearing, horsepower ...

it's torque AND gearing. not just torque. for example, a previous Generation mustang GT with 302lb/ft of torque will not pull on an AP1 on the top end. (i have no idea how the AP2's top end is)
AP2 can pull a previous gen GT up top. I've raced a few from 80 and the only ones that have kept up are modded. It is by no means a blow out, but I still pull ahead through 4th and 5th gears (not sure about 6th as I have not taken my AP2 that high yet...yet )

I was not saying that torque is the ONLY thing to consider in terms of top speed, just a one of the more important factors. The thing I was trying to get at is that in top speed, torque is more important than horsepower.

Gearing is definitely a big part in top speed since that is the multiplying factor between the amount of torque you get off your engine and you apply to your wheels (minus drivetrain loss). That being said, as far as top speed there is a point where your gears are too tall and the torque on your wheels does not over come the force of drag slowing the car down (calculated with drag coefficient and and frontal area). That is where aerodynamics come into play, less drag equals less force to overcome to get the car to go faster. And while we keep bring up more factors to top speed, drivetrain loss also effect top speed.

What I was getting at is that a aerodynamics and drivetrain loss ignored, an engine with more torque can be geared to be faster than the one with less torque. Torque is really the physical force to overcome the drag, not horsepower.

And about the high school physics, I have a minor in physics, thanks ;-)

"Is this right" that you thought it was a 2007 model, when it's barely in the year 2006?

you are talking about torque at the wheels, then. Can't argue with that.

Of course, you've probably been here long enough to know the S2000 violates space-time whenever necessary for the egos of its fans
