Is this right?

I was not saying that torque is the ONLY thing to consider in terms of top speed, just a one of the more important factors. The thing I was trying to get at is that in top speed, torque is more important than horsepower.
Gearing is definitely a big part in top speed since that is the multiplying factor between the amount of torque you get off your engine and you apply to your wheels (minus drivetrain loss). That being said, as far as top speed there is a point where your gears are too tall and the torque on your wheels does not over come the force of drag slowing the car down (calculated with drag coefficient and and frontal area). That is where aerodynamics come into play, less drag equals less force to overcome to get the car to go faster. And while we keep bring up more factors to top speed, drivetrain loss also effect top speed.
What I was getting at is that a aerodynamics and drivetrain loss ignored, an engine with more torque can be geared to be faster than the one with less torque. Torque is really the physical force to overcome the drag, not horsepower.
And about the high school physics, I have a minor in physics, thanks ;-)

mind you both are making about 300 hp at the wheel.
please explain.

thanks for answering.

BTW i've seen the new mustang saleens on the street- they are really clean. i've just had a couple quick glances at one when i used to eat lunch at costco. i dont like the way the new mustang looks, but the new saleen looks sick. you can really tell the difference when you look at it.

so can i say ROFL just like you...

It doesn't matter at all whether you won or lost, but I just found the fact that you thought any car was an '07 model at this time was funny. We were barely over 10 days into '06, no automaker was producing an '07 model already.
i guess im ahead of everybody..as always..

Could have been a Roush Mustang maybe? Obviously not the s/c version otherwise you'd have needed a telescope to see him as he would have been so far ahead
(If I am not mistaken the non s/c Roush upgrades are just for handling and cosmetics)
Nice death

Stage 2: Cosmetics and Suspension ( larger anti-roll bar, tailored spring and shock package, as well as new wheels and tires)
E.T.: 13.5 @ 101.09mph
Stage 3: Cosmetics, Suspension, and Engine (roots s/c ~425)
Hope that helps
