played with my brothers cobra the other night! that car is a BEAST, i did the phattest brake stand in it (manny trans)

WOW....anyway.

My dad was driving my S and i got to take out my brothers cobra, we didnt actually do any stop then go runs, we just kinda toyed, but i must say if the guy in the cobra cant power shift, and doesnt know where to shift, basically someone who just jumps in the car and tries to race will have his hands full with a S/C s2000..

Pretty much sayin, i didnt know how to drive that car...shifts were KINDA slow and i really didnt know the car..dont get me wrong, the S didnt pull from the COBRA, but it wasnt like i was all over his ass waitin for him to move over....

How would a S/C S with the aftercooler and an upgraded pully do against a stock COBRA, both competent drivers..

WHat is very important here, is: pre 03 cobra? Or an 03?

You will have your hands full, and then some, against an 03.

Pre-03, I'd give you excellent odds.

 

ive raced a previous model cobra..not 03 but the newer body style..we ran, and i wasnt pushin too hard but we were stayin even.

the car im talkin about is the new 03..

 

I trapped around 112-113 mph in my Cobra when it was stock so judging by that a supercharged S doesn't stand much chance unless it's more than just the out of box bolt on supercharger (ie. pulley upgrade etc.).

 

Not very well. Esp if the guy in the Cobra changes intake, exhaust, chip. A guy down the road from my house had one with only these mods. He ran low 11's at the track on street tires.

 

Either he has more mods than that or he's lying about his time....no way a Cobra with those mods is running LOW 11's on street tires. The 03 Cobra has HUGE traction issues and while more than capable of clicking off a low 11 sec time it isn't going to happen on street tires. He would need DR's at least but more than likely it would require slicks.

 

I'd say your Vortech S2000 would hang pretty decently with a stock Cobra... the Cobra will walk you at higher speeds 120 +...

I really like the Cobras they sound sweet... that car kicks ass for the $.

 

I ran with a Cobra a few months back on I-75. It was an older dude with what looked like his young son in the car. I was ahead of him doing about 70 and heard him punch it, so I dropped down and punched it too. Basically, he stayed on my ass the whole time up to @ 130-140. I could not pull away. In fact, he may have even been inching closer before we shut it down for traffic. He and his son gave me the as they passed. Not sure he expected an S to be able to hang like that. But those cars are no joke, that's for sure...

 

What's really kick ass is how cheap it is to make them sound so awesome...my Magnaflow X-pipe and exhaust was around $600 shipped to my door and my intake was about $50. The cheapest intake for my M3 is over $200 and most are over $1K.
