Why would anyone be threatened by the GTS having a s2k or type-r. Even an RSX type s probably would be better. But, I'm not as familiar with that car. I feel that money would be better spent on other vehicles that offer better performance for the value. If I want a car that will last forever then I'll buy a Honda. If I want performance that's very respectable then I'll buy a Honda. My s2k might not out perform a current m3, but I wouldn't expect it too. If anyone truly doubts the performance of the GTS just look up the reviews from Car and Driver or Compact Car. The best numbers I've seen posted for that car is 6.8 to 60 and the 1/4 in about 15.5. Pretty slow considering the price. As I stated that's my opinion and if someone chooses to waste their money on that car then that's fine with me. It's not coming out of my pocket.
oh no...he is mag racing haha. If you want to use mag times...sport compact did get the celica from 0-60 in 6.6 sec and 14.9 in the quartermile how did I know that because a little research doesn't hurt and you're a soon to be lawyer should love to do a lot of research

Actually the key to the elise is the overall performance of it. Yes it uses the toyota engine and if you done some research will put out almost the same wheel hp as the type R motor (C5 motor not the K series one, 2000-2001 type R) but you're so closed minded that you don't see that.

No way, no how. S2K > Celica anyday, enough said. If a Toyota buyer wanted speed, he/she should have bought a used TT Supra, not a celica. They are fast for what they are, but not fast when compared to S, sorry.

the gts is not by any means slow. you can compare the gts to a type r. the type r does have the edge but not to the point where the it puts the gts to shame. its like comparing the z to the s. the two are very similar in terms of performance.

one thing the celica lacks is the aftermarket support. the car has been out for 4 years and not a single company has made cams for the 2zz. stock for stock the gts can be ranked amongst the type r and certainly the type s. at the end it comes down to the driver.

the most important thing to remeber is the fact that the gts is available in automatic . the automatic does the 1/4 mile in mid to low 16s. you can not compare the auto gts to manual. they are two completely different cars.

i am a gts owner and i'm not a fan boy. as you can see from my other post, i'm trying to get a 2004 s2k asap. it just sucks to see a nice car be put down by people who don't really know the car. the celica handles great tho, you guys should give it a try. you'd be surprise to see how well it handles for a fwd car.

just to let you guys know, the fastest stock 1/4 time for the celica gts (manual) was 14.8. i believe he took out the spare tire when he did that and played with the tire pressure. the same guy hit 13.6 with i/e/standalone and weight reduction (took out rear seats, spare, passenger seat).

but i do agree that a PROPERLY driven s2k shouldn't have trouble pulling on a gts even if it has i/e.

Will take quite a bit of Modding before a Celica could take a S2000

well, upon further research, it seems like most of the s2k owners are not willing to launch the car off the line. a lot of you seem to be in the low/mid 14s too. i wouldn't be surprised to see a gts be right next to the s if the s2k doesn't lauch at 6k+ rpm.

7500 launch will get you in 13s. If I don't launch I will still kick the celicas ass on a roll which is the preferred way of kill for the s2k Vrooom vroom
