Default s2000 at 157 mph

well last night for the first time since November I took the s2000 cover off and drove it. It has been crappy weather lately but last night it was in the 50's and completely dry out. I had to go to the ATM about 10 miles from my house. on the way I drove slow just warming her up. on the way home I got on I-35 and while merging I looked over to see a Mitsubishi 3000 twin turbo. he waved and hammers went down at 60mph. we continued to race from 60 to around 130 and slowing back down(missed my exit and kept going. each time I would pull(surprisingly easy) from him and be about 7-8 car lengths ahead. by the 5-6 time I wondered why this guy kept wanting to do this and get beat so the last time I decided to keep it down. I-35 is 3 lane per direction road and at 130am was empty except for us. So I floored it and held it down till 157. he was about 15 car lengths back when I figured I topped it out. Did not know our top speed was that high. I guess my speddo could be off though I have stock wheels and tires???
anyway what a blast. the car felt stable and secure The only other time I have ever been that fast is on my CBR 900(167) with no helmet on and my eyes watering.. I was young and stupid then now after last night I am old and stupid

I think some owners have topped it out at even higher speeds, stock. Our S2000's have pretty respectable top speeds.

I personally took it to 160mph and shut it down because of the conditions ... I had a few rpm's left at that point. I did this while the top was up.

Damn...wish I had somewhere I could do that. I guess I could do it on I-95, but I'm not prepared to suffer the consequences, so I'll just go to the track

Anyway, I heard (from an extremely reliable source ) that only Spa yellow S2000's can go that fast

Sounds fun dude!

Most reports I have read have the top speed at 150 mph. Production variances, optimistic speedo, going down hill can increase this though. Wow, that's pretty fast.

Top up vs. Top Down is a huge difference (the drag is significantly greater with the top down). Published top speed is 150. 157 w/the top down (for a stock S2K) sounds like an optimistic speedo.

Then again maybe you have a very strong motor!

well i got intake, exhaust and tb on the car but i think the speddo is off too. I was very suprised at that speed. I was going down hill at the time top down and windows up.. wheels and tires are stock also. oh well it was fun. come to think of it. the only time i got a ticket in this car was 62 in a 45 and i thought i was going 66 when the cop radared me so maybe im off in the speddo a bit.. is there a way to calibrate a speddo
