s2000 at 157 mph
Well if you have intake/exhaust that would definitely help, and if you were going downhill too. With the top up. The Z rated tires should be able to handle that kind of speed. Lucky a cop didn't nab you on this speed run. This would have been a go straight to jail type offense
. I got a ticket for doing a 99 mph in a 65 mph. Cost me $400. Thought this was reckless, but luckily just a really big speeding ticket. Remember the saying "The only thing that was going faster than me was the headlights of the cop car taking me jail!" I know that speed that fast can get real scary though. Cars tend to do things at 150 that they don't do at 100 or 120.

No every magazine I see (Cr & Driver, Motor Trend, Road & Track) says 150. 165 sounds really high to me considering many of the Mustangs & Camaros top out at about 155, and the Porsches, which have higher gearing top out at 170-175.
The S2000s top speed is without a doubt above 150 mph. Hell the Integra Type-r could break into the 150s in stock trim, it's the honda gearing. I think this has been proven many times by many s2000 owners, myself one of them
Most people's speedos must be optimistic. The new RSX Type S topped out at 145 in a recent test. Sorry but there is a huge difference between 150mph and 170mph. Drag goes up exponentially. I would understand somebody with exhaust, intake, etc getting a few more mph, but people saying their cars were doing 165 stock is a fantasy. Mustangs are doing 140's and Camaros 155. That is closer to the S2000. Porsches and Corvettes are getting into the 170's.
Fanman do you even own an S2k? Do have any idea what you're talking about? An s2k would shi-t all over a mustang GT above 120mph, and it can break into the solid 160s as this has been proven time and time again. Like I said the integra type-r broke into the 150 barrier, I'll believe that an RSX-S can break into the 140 barrier, but there is NO WAY in hell you're getting a stock Mustang GT into the 140s.
My Type R has seen an indicated 153ish -- (interesting to note I was drafting a fox bodied Stang at the time). I see no need to repeat that stupid feat in a car without a roof -- the S2000 has seen 130 at SIR.
Top speed for the Mustang GT is in the mid 140's -- for the cobra the 150's (both of these cars get to those speeds quicker than the S2000 -- don't fool yourself, the myth of S2000's having some magical ability to accelerate faster once at speed is just that, a myth, physics affects everyone).
Depending on the option package LS1 Camaro's are high 160's.
Personally I don't see an S2000 doing more than 155 or so -- maybe down a long hill with a strong tailwind....
What I find amusing is that no one is even questioning the fact that this guy put multiple car lengths on a 3000GTVR4.

WELL NO ONE WAS MORE SUPRISED THAT I PULLED THAT HARD ON THE 3000GT.. AS TO THE SPEDDO I THINK IT IS OBVIOUS MINE IS OFF A BIT. AS TOO PULLING SO HARD I THINK IF THE 3000GT WAS 6 MONTHS OLD WITH 5,000 MILES LIKE MINE IT WOULD HAVE BEEN CLOSER. YOU GOT TO FIGURE THE CAR WAS 9 YEARS OLD AND POSSIBLY OVER 100,000 MILES.. THOSE TURBOS LEAK AND LOSE POWER WHEN THEY GET THAT OLD..I WOULD LOVE TO HAVE TALKED TO THE GUY TO FIND OUT THE AGE,CONDITION,AND MILEAGE.
