Ummmm yaa....it's either a myth or just the superior gearing of the close ratio 6-spd honda tranny. Call it whatever makes you happiest, but I drove a mustang gt for a long time and 5th gear in that car is a JOKE.

 

Easy XPander 4. No need to playa-hate. I'm quoting the top speeds in Road & Track (150 mph) & Car & Driver (147mph). They have this fun stuff that most of us don't to test true top speed, not just looking at the speedo. And before you think they are biased, in one of their last reports they said that the BMW 540i speedo was 10 mph more optimistic from their actual speed. The RSX Type-S tops out at 145 mph. And for reference the Camaro SS does 160mph, and the Vette 168mph. At top speed drag resistence goes up exponentially. I can believe the original person saying his S2000 did 150-ish with modded air/exhaust. But if you think the magazines are BS then are you telling me that if they topped out a 911 at 170-175 that it can actually do 185 mph, since your S2000 can do 160 and they say 150mph ? Gearing has something to do with it but remember that both the Vette & Camaro have 6 speeds, and the Porsches have the higher gearing as they have no speed limit on the Autobahns and some of the tallest gearing for sports cars (they suffer some penalty for 0-60 & 1/4 mi acceleration tests.

 

I've had my car to 158. It's stock. I backed off after I realized I was going a bit fast. (Me and an RX7 were playin)

 

hey guys... new here! just want to ask those who hasn't experience the speed to not argue with those who have. i've taken my car up to 151 mph but got a lil scared and let go of the gas. it's a great car! one of its kind...

 

No one is commenting on the claim that he beat a VR-4 because you are still working on verifying that actually made his top speed. After that has happened, then we may start jumping in. No, just kidding... if he says he did, then whatever.... It has already been admitted on your board that our cars are faster, so it doesn't matter to us anymore. If the guy beat a VR-4, then that's great. Props to him... not too many cars/people out there can do it. Just remember that it was at night and the VR-4s look a LOT like the Non-turbos (which I personally don't like too much, but oh well).

First of all, turn off the damn caps lock.. You are only accentuating your spelling/grammar errors. You know what's really funny? When people fabricate BS stories in poor attempts to gain respect from their peers.

 

The VR-4s do look VERY much like the non-turbos, no disrespect intended. Everyone makes mistakes. Some people even stick VR-4 badging on their non-VR-4s, and as long as they don't race anything fast, they are ok.... but 15 lengths on a VR-4 doesn't sound too plausible (just stating facts), stock vs stock. It was from a roll, granted, which is not the forte of the VR-4, but it's not like are only good in the first 60ft!
