I totally agreed with the above statement. Been in my friend dodge ram with a hemi, from start to 35mph.. its feel nice, after that, it feel so sluggish..doesn't pull that hard like I expected.

nice job. but don't bog off the line like that. you could destroy your diff.
Wisconsin, could you elaborate on why this is bad for the diff?
Not that I bog my car, but I'm curious as to what happens here, mechanically/physically.

Thanks in advance!

yeah explain that to me too, cause it always worries me about the s2k. Kinda have an idea but is it really that bad. I'm scared now. lol. Anyhow not the first time ive beaten a muscle car with a four banger. I beat alot of v8 stang with my celica gts. Only the 5.0 and older 4.6. It does feel good to beat a new charger cause i don't many have had encounter with them, you know how it is, when knowone know for sure who would win, theres a lot of trash talking involve. Glad to be the first to prove it. Hope the first. lol

Wis hasn't come back yet but if you worry about durability at all then think of your car's driveline as having "fuses" that can blow. In the simplest terms your clutch can slip, your rear end gears (and LSD) can take the brunt, or your tires can slip. Drop your clutch right and the tires slip. Tires are the least expensive of your "fuse" choices.

Just bog it and your rear end (and some of your engine) takes most of the abuse.

This is the same reason you are warned by most of us against going to stickier tires on your stock driveline. You wll overstress something other than tires. Proper racing does tend to break things (like even your shock mounts if you go to sticky tires!).

In the simplest terms... When you bog, you're not spinning tires. When you're not spinning tires, the force is exerted on your drivetrain (and in particular, on your differential). This causes it to break. Wheelspin takes that force away from your drivetrain and puts it on the tires. Kinda complicated. Just remember that you want to launch where you'll get 1-2 seconds of tirespin.

as the others have stated.

another thing to consider is the amount of load being placed on getting the car acclerating.

if you bog, the car goes from probably a short tire spin to suddenly no tire spin. so your diff and drive train just went from having very little load to having the full load of the car accelerating.

(keep in mind this is different than just flooring it off the line once you have already properly engaged the clutch)

so if you're launching, the spinning of the tires gets the car moving, while the diff and drivetrain do not bear the full load/weight and resistance of the car since the tires are spinning. bog, and you have just done the opposite of this.

i'd like to think that alot of less expensive cars out there you won't have to worry about your drivetrain breaking. Why the s2k, for an expensive car it should be able to handle it. I woul like to think that at barely over 150 ftlb of torque, honda engineers expects a lot of bog from this car. Not everyone is a professional driver, there for i'm sure they woul have took that in consideration. Just my opinion, correct me if i'm wrong cause i don worry a little and really just wana enjoy the car. Someone enlighten me, parts of the car break eventually.

What RPM did you launch at? All these guys are saying that bogging will break the diff, but if you were only at 3K RPM (and that's why you bogged), then I don't think you're really at considerable risk for blowing your diff.
