s2000 owns.............................
For one thing, Kumho 711 tires really sux for traction especially when launching at only 4k. I had never bogged when launching my S at 4k with Kumho 711, potenza S02/S03 and there's no way you're gonna get anywhere with a 4k launch. Bogging a launch is embarrassing, guess that's the only way anyone's gonna learn to launch right.
sry, what i meant by i bog is that during my launch my rpms were at like above 4k, what i mean by it is the time waiting to hit vtec, how it's so slow. Too far below 6k rpm. I don't mean coughing off the line lol. Ive done better launches, but like i said, it was cold that night and usually i get little tire spin and when i grip it's like at above 5k rpm , depending on how good i launch. like i said, tried it before the race and what would normally grip just kept spinning so i had to let off a little. That's not to bad is it. And i feel much better now thanks to all you replies, thank you. I only had my s for a year and only put 6k on it, So not to familiar with it yet.
I don't think price has anything to do with it. There is enough documented evidence that the S2000 is designed with little margin for overstress in several places (aforementioned driveline and shock mounts, and the trans in early ones). One could argue they did all they could for the price and spent the money elsewhere.
When I bought mine, Honda was advertising "sub-six second 0-60." We all know the only way to do that is with a proper spinning launch. Driveline problems were common enough to approach class-action status, IMO. Have they advertised that performance specification recently?
