Default S2000 vs. 240Z

It wasn't even close! But contrary to your expectations, read on.

Ever line up against a 450+hp 2500lb turbocharged Z? It was good for some great belly laughs as we watched his taillights disapear into the night.

After a cordial dinner with the owner, we lined up on the highway at about 60mph. Curiousity got the best of me and I dropped it into 3rd and nailed it. I immediately put about a car length on the Datsun ... at least I was ahead until he noticed what was going on . He rocketed by and disappeared into the night - what a sight!

Here's the car:

And the motor:

For a couple of years in the early/mid 90s Nissan was buying up 240Zs, refurbishing them and selling them in their dealerships. I think they were priced in the low to mid 20s. The response was only lukewarm so they stopped the program. If you could find one of those cars, it would make a very nice starting point for a hot rod.

I think with a sweet paint job that would be one cool little car to work with and look at.

YEP - and into downtown Savannah for dinner on Riverfront! It's street legal with '02 sticker on the Georgia plates. The driver claims around an 11 second quarter mile ... and I believe it! Another interesting tech tidbit was the use of water injection to reduce detonation at 20+ pounds of boost .
