Random guess: The SL would pull away from you beyond 90mph or so

If you lose to that model of SL 500, never drag race your S again. They are fat pigs at over 4k lbs, and shouldn't be that huge of a chalenge if you know what you are doing. But, from the 14.3 1/4 mile time you've posted, you have some work to do. 300 hp and 4k lbs don't add up to a speed machine these days. Most people would agree the S and 350Z are comparable in acceleration. The 350z has nearly the same hp as the SL, but weighs 600 lbs less, so if you lose to this SL, be prepared to get spanked by the Z as well.

Ya, I'd say this too. I can see the S2000 being much better off the line than the SL500, especially a 15-yr old one, but the SL will make up its possible deficit quickly above 70mph.

I believe that the new 500SL and the S2K are pretty close in 1/4 mile times. I would imagine that a 1/4 would be a driver's race.

Im pretty confident I can take this 500 SL I've raced G35's and a couple of stock and lightly modded SRT-4's on the street and beat them. My track time does my car no justice and not to mention how crappy the track was..I know i can run better I was trapping close to 99 mph but my 60 foot was killing me I had too much spin from the whole I got out good but traction could of been alot better I just got new tires that should help drop my 60 foot.

On the street's I get better traction than on the track obviously since they are street tires and im running on volk 18's inch wheels as well. I've have yet to run a 350z but I'd imagine it be a drivers race but I wouldn't be surprised to see a 350z pull top end. Im a good driver I've dragged for years but mostly street I don't do it as much rarely if i do and most of the races i run are from rolls on the hwy.

Like I said power to weight and gearing is on my side w/ my driving I should be able to take this 500 sl just wanted t know if anyone has raced one before cause the specs on the 500 sl surprised me didn't think it had 300+ hp

Let's hope that in your gay street racing adventures the only people you kill are yourself and your buttbuddy opponent.

Take this ricer street racing shit to street encounters.

Im sorry I think you got me mistaken. While I don't condone street racing you must think im one of these kids that go out saturday nights and sit in a parking lot all night.

Before you make you shallow assumptions just know if and when i do run anyone on the "streets" its on empty hwy's late at night w/ no traffic so if i do kill anyone it be myself everyone is guilty of playing on the hwy or empty street. There is no excuse for playing in traffic and racing in the middle of rush hour which is what you are refering too.

Next time grow up and keep your "gay" and "ricer" comments to yourself get the facts before you become a superman behind the keyboard just because you know me so well...wait actually you don't know me so I'd really STFU if i was you Any members on the forum I've meet will tell you im not the "ricer" you assume I am

I work at a valet parking company, and I had that experience, except that I was in the 500. I beat an S2k and some others on the straights. I got owned in the twisties by the S2k though.
what company do you work at? Remind me never to valet park my car there.

"On the street's I get better traction that at the track..." That's a BS indicator. Since when does anyone get better traction on the street than on a VHT prepped clean track?

While that could be true the closest track to me isn't kept up at all Check the FL forums about it. Street tires on a track aren't going to be as effective as they would on the street when i said traction i should of said I feel i could have a better launch on the street. Last time i was at the track I could of had better tires couldn't get traction but i got out of the whole. I have video's of 2 of the 7 runs i made that night.
