S2000 vs Civic
Was driving behind a slow, black, tinted Civic (current gen) in the left lane. When it opened into two lanes, I meander into the right lane and start rolling past. As I'm going past, I guess he started accelerating as well. So I keep rolling on the gas, short shifting. Thinking that he's going to stop at ~10mph over (he was previously driving 2mph under the limit).
He keeps staying by my side. So I realize that he's turning this into an exhibition of speed. It's not something I care to do on a lovely, sunny day. So I downshift and put a gajillion carlengths on him. Within 4 seconds, I'm far enough away and already back to normal 7-mph-over speed. He was trying to keep up, but I took special care to "box" him behind slow-moving cars so I could continue on my way at normal speeds.
Seriously, this is one of the reasons I went SC. A quick, definitive smackdown at street-legal speeds rather than the "I-beat-him-by-1-carlength-by-120mph-BS" sometimes seen by noobie-racers.
It's a pet-peeve to have people take normal passing as a personal challenge. If you're in the fast lane driving slow, I'm going to pass you on the right.
"Lead, follow, or get the F'k out of the way... please."

There could be whole librarys worth of physcological data written on people's subconscious reaction to other people on the road. Its funny because you are right next to a bunch of people, completely random, whom you have no relation or kinship, that are all going different places, yet you are confined and unable to intimately talk to them. So people feel they can get away with more than they normally would... Ehhh i digress
Back on Topic:
hehe, i know what you mean... its definitely nice to floor it in 6th and make more horsepower than i did when i was stock, especially when people like you said, take it as a personal insult on their dominance of the road, to be over taking them...
