Default S2000 vs Elise

My brother recently bought a 05 Lotus Elise with 6k miles. The Lotus yellow is nearly as stunning as my Rio Yellow 04 S2000. hehe Damn those are awesome looking cars.

We finally had a chance to get a good run against each other. I recently removed my CDV so I have been enjoying the nice crisp shifts of my Ap2 so I was ready for him, I was sure to put the top up.

we ran from 45mph and I immediatly pulled a fender on him and distanced my self by about a car length @ 90mph. He doesnt shift as fast as me but overall my s2000 bearly edges him out in hp/weight. I walk him slowly.

Other runs from higher speed were also pretty close. All ending in the same result of me walking him slightly. I really thought he would whip my ass due to the 800lb weight difference but I guess i edged him out. AP2 FTW!

My only mod is a Mugen v1 style CF intake and I have the CDV removed.

I am trying to arrange a time for us to take our cars to the Dragon so we can have the ultimate 4cyl roadster battle.

Good runs. How do you think you would have done against your brother if the CDV was still on?

I drove the Elise's brothercar, being the Opel Speedster (Europe) alias Vauxhall VX (England) that were built in the same factory on the same belt... I drove both the 2.2 (147HP) atmo and the 2.0 (200HP) turbo versions. And they both let me down a bit in my power hunger, especially the 2.2 atmo... They claim a 0-60 time a little faster than the S2000 for the 2.2 and 4.9 sec's for the Turbo, but in all the magazines I saw they were tested at least 1sec slower. Never raced against one, but I'm pretty sure we can stand up to them, yes! Nice to year you could

Quite a few of the elise racers have been transplanting s2000 motors in. That's freaking cool.

I raced an Elise in the DC area about a month or two ago - I had the similar results, but on a more grand scale - I pulled several car lengths ahead of him at 100 mph. I am pretty heavily modded though.

Now order yourself a cat delete (test pipe) and then see how that same race goes. itll be much more than 1 car.

when i was at 227whp i put about 3-4 cars on an elise from a 45 roll or so. woulda been more, but he let off as he saw the punishing was only going to get worse. they are geared VERY aggresively down low, but just like geared s2ks they lose steam around 100 or so.

good run.
