S2000 vs Lancer Evo
Okay, I had an interesting encounter last Friday...
I got home from work about 10:30 pm (my normal work shift). I picked up my boyfriend and said "I wanna just go on a drive somewhere, anywhere." You know the feeling, right?
Anyway, we took a little back country road near my house that I had been dying to try out. It ended up shooting us out near a shopping plaza that I was very familiar with - every evening there are a lot of rice rockets and domestics hanging out showing off their stuff.
So I just passed the plaza and didn't give it much thought. I just wanted to go back home. Earlier, I was kind of complaining to my boyfriend that I was way too scared to even test the limits of the S2000, ever since the hit and run that totaled my del Sol.
We had the top down and I was enjoying the warm breeze. Summers are way hot in Antioch. I stopped at a traffic light and waited for it to turn green. As it turned green, I shifted into first and was passed - rather quickly - by a brand new Lancer Evolution. He cut me off and raced on down to the next traffic light. Because I was still feeling unsure of myself due to the accident, I just told my boyfriend "Big deal.. he has a new car, I have a new car, whatever. I'm not going to race."
So we pulled up behind the Evolution at the traffic light. Both of us were waiting in the left hand turn lane, which would lead up to my neighborhood. My boyfriend just said, "You can take him." I was like "Huh? You think so?" and he goes "Yeah. When the light turns green, just drive like you used to drive."
So the light turns green, the Evo mashes the gas all the way down and is done with the turn before I'm even halfway through the intersection. All I could hear was my boyfriend's voice telling me "You can take him." So I completed the turn, shifted into 2nd... and floored it.
It was very surprising to me. I passed him up less than a couple seconds later... My boyfriend waved bye bye to him through the open top. I could hear his engine whining... I threw it into third and just kept on going up the hill. It was a 35 mph zone and my boyfriend says I was doing 95 mph. I didn't let off the gas until I got closer to my turnoff... the Evo wooshed past me all exhaust and huffiness.
I made my turnoff and drove like a normal person back home... actually kind of shaken. I didn't know the S2000 had it in him... and boy was I surprised at what it pulled out for me. My boyfriend was just grinning and going "See? I told you so."
So that's my story.
I decided to look up the specs on the Evo. It says it's a 2.0 liter turbocharged 271 hp inline 4 with 273 lb-ft of torque. Wow. I beat that?

That's a "ghey story"? Where did you learn how to spell?
Truthfully, the only thing I can think of is that he wasn't very good at driving his car yet. Like I said, I checked out the Evo's specs, and I was surprised that I was able to put that much space between us. So the only thing I can surmise is that he just wasn't very familiar with the car yet but he WAS coming on very strong. I've raced enough times to know when someone is toying with you and he wasn't just playing around - he wanted to show off that is Evo could beat my S2000 (which it probably could if he drove better).
Thanks for such a friendly reply, xpander4! I love it when someone tells me I told "a pretty ghey story" when I told the truth.

Maybe something's wrong with my temper today, but xpander4....
1. She's a girl, and seems to be a pretty sweet one due to her not getting bitchy by your "ghey" reply.
2. She's new to this board, or at least that what the records say. (pay no attention to my s2ki age, I've been here more than a few times.)
BTW minako, why aren't there more girls around here like you?
Under normal circumstances, the Evo would've won...good kill though
