Stock vs Stock

WRX was faster off the line, but after Vtec kicked in, I was already ahead. Around 1.5-2 car lengths ahead.
My car out handled the WRX after.

If owned both and can tell you from exp. Stock - Stock.. S2000.. The only problem is that with only a few $$ the wrx can become MUCH quicker..

I used to own a MY98 WRX and my next door neighbour has a current model WRX. I've had a couple of runs with my neighbours stock car and whilst neither of us is launching our cars the WRX does pull away the minute turbo kicks in..

Park both cars side by side and turn ignition off: The S2000 wins! Next?

I've had both (currently have S2K). Both cars are quick, but the S2K definitely has better handling (stock vs. stock). As for who's faster in a drag, I know it would come down to the driver, as both cars are tricky to launch.

1) S2K's clutch makes it tricky to launch without causing damage.

2) WRX's AWD makes it tricky to get off the line as well.

Both cars are rated very close as far as 0-60 and 1/4 mile goes, so it would be a driver's contest and who gets the best jump off the line. But S2K's high-end definitely can make the difference.

And yes, when considering mods, the WRX can be made to go fast easy.

As for autocrossing, turbocharged cars are at a disadvantage, as I witnessed in a March autocross where a stock S2K posted the best times of the day. Stock and modded WRXs (and STi's) weren't even close.

By the way, during our Saturday group drive during the Florida S2K/NSX supermeet, we had a family in a WRX following us for many of the roads we were on. They kept up with us the entire time and handled all the same curves and high-speed straight-aways. It was pretty cool to see a mom, dad and kid along for the ride.

I raced an Sti and beat him. We raced from a roll of about 40 MPH.
