S2000vsITRvsGTS
This is in responce to the post about STOOK vs. Teg type R. I wrote all this and then realized I pushed new post instead of respond. sorry in advance for the length.
You guys must know of some very fast ITR's. 14.0???? are you for real? bone stock? The fastest "stock" ITR I've seen ran a 14.2. I say "stock cause he was running on 13 inch slicks and took the filter out of his airbox at the track. That effectively gave him a slightly less restrictive intake and far more importantly, more traction off the line and a shorter final drive ratio. This was done in cool dry air and very legit at Budds Creek Maryland. Most stock ITR's were running right around 14.8 to 14.9, with the next fastest stock one running a 14.7. GTS's were running about 15.1 to 15.2 and GSR's were running mid 15's. This post is starting to be about driver vs. driver. If you want to compare car to car. This may be a bit of a flame but IMHO everybody driving an S2000 should be an enthusiast and a farely good driver. S2000's can run very low 14's. All of them. They ARE a little tricky to launch but if you aren't willing to dump the clutch at 6500+ then don't compare your times to other cars. Our cars are what you would call quirky. They aren't cookie-cutter. You have to drive them like you want to break them. As far as I've seen (29,000 miles) they can take it.
For the record, if you wanna talk real-world, I am heavily involved in the " illegal street racing" scene. (go ahead and flame me, I know I shouldn't do it.) We race on real roads. I have never lost to a stock ITR. I have made some minor mistakes and had it become a very close race before but I haven't lost. A SCed ITR beats me up almost every weekend. And by the way, as far as "real-world" goes. I launch the same on the road as on the track so times aren't a whole lot slower.
Also, having spent some time on a real race track, I can say that S2000s are faster than ITRs and ITRs are waaaay faster than GTSs. Although on the S2000 vs. ITR front, the smaller and tighter the track the smaller the gap becomes to the point that in some rediculously tight portions the ITR is actually a little quicker.
I hope this doesn't sound like too much of a flame. I just actually have quite a bit of experience on this subject so I thought I'd share.

In the tighter sections on a track the S2000 is usually quicker --- you can only ask so much of a tire, asking it to turn AND accelerate as in the case of a FWD car is often too much to ask and results in understeer.

Nah -- I would argue that a large percentage of owners have just stepped out of Accords and Civics and have very little if any "high performance" driving experience.
oh yeah, I agree. thats why I said "should". that part is just my $.02
