Bleh. Neon haters. Makes me sad inside.

I agree to an extent though. I drove an SRT-4 for a winter, and while it's a lot of fun, I'd never own one.

You should respect them for their power potential though. 400whp with a stock engine/drivetrain, 500+whp if you upgrade the clutch. Not too shabby for an econobox.
WTF are you smoking? A stock SRT is rated at 230hp.(crank) and what kind of magical clutch is gonna give you 100hp. It weighs 3000lbs, fwd, and i've yet to see one run less than a mid 14. at the track.

gaydar....

thats a bad ass term. im gonna use that on some vegas kids. oh man.

as for skittles (srt4's) i have seen some stupid fast ones. got handed by one with a t67 on it. there is a local one that has ran high 10s. so when i see them, i give them both barrels and usually come out in front by a ways. but im always prepared to get hurt, cause they all sound the same (backfiring) and you never can tell whos 500 whp. theres one thats at our sunday meets, and hasnt lost to a z06 yet. so yeah, be careful of the skittle power. lates

Not to rain on anyones parade but the hp for the SRT4 is more accuratly rated at the wheels... Dodge underratted the SRT4.

You do not have to believe me or not (doesnt matter)!!

As far as being in the mid 14's yes there are alot of them that dont know how to drive properly but then again there are alot that do!! I went to the track on the 19th and i ran 5, 13.8's @ 100+ mph i have time slips for 4 of them ... lost one of the 5 slips somewhere in my room!! All i have is K&N drop in filter, mopar/borla catback exhaust... and no, for the most part, that doesnt do anything to our cars...

P.S. I like my black skittle!!

Hmmm.....Why all the hate for the SRT4? It offers very good performance for the money.
correction. it offers good STRAIGHT LINE performance for the money. if you're looking for any OTHER kind of performance other than that, you're money is much better spent on something else.

Re-read my post. I was merely stating that the stock clutch was good for 400hp, along with the rest of the engine and drivetrain. The stock turbo won't go much over 300whp though, but the rest of the components are strong enough to handle the power. I never said anything about a magical clutch giving 100hp, that's just your SRT-4 hate reading things into my post.

And I'm sorry you haven't seen anyone run better than a mid 14 with the car. I could whine about how terrible the S2000 owners are around here (judging by the times I've seen, a turbo S2000 is a mid 13 second car :'(), but that doesn't mean anything, we both know they're good for high 13's stock. The SRT-4 is the same way. I've personally witnessed a bone stock SRT-4 go 13.9 consistently at the local drag strip. I have a friend running high 12's with a lightly modded one.

Like I said, I wouldn't own the car, but DAMN people, you're being blinded by hate against the Neon.

Wow...that thread went down to "my dad is bigger then your dad" in my opinion. Not a single one of them made an educated point on the last few pages. All forums have a few people they would rather not have representing them as a group. It's a shame it's those that always seem to get themselves heard.
