What about the new SRT-4 ACR?
the ACR is a decent D-stock car. take that as you will. however, keep in mind, dodge had to create a special version of the SRT4 just to even be competitive in the street stock category. while the ACR is certainly a good step above the SRT4, it's still nowhere near any comparison to the S2000 in the handling department. and you can still get better handling cars for less than you'd pay for a new ACR.

Man there are a lot of haters on that site. I just read all 9 pages. Looks like a lot of kids/young boys and girls on that site that like to stir the pot with all types of cars.

That one boy with the J30 Nissan keeps saying "owned" yet he never "owned" anyone in that thread. Classic!

Not to stir the pot more on SRT4's, but their sales are directed towards the younger crowd, thus the price for the performance. Your not going to see some guy/girl in his 30s, 40s, or 50s fixing up a Neon or picking up women/men in one or whatever, but I do see it as a possible family car. Well, maybe you will. I think they are great cars for the price. Dont like the resale value though.

BTW I havent seen Alexf20c post on this site in years. I thought he got banned back in 2003? No?

How can you post numbers on the SRT and not know nothing about it? what do you do pull numbers outta your ass. yes Mopar makes a Stage1,2,3 and 4, each stage being an upgrade made up of different mods that can only be purchased from Mopar. And no the stock clutch will not hold 400hp for a good long time because Mopar reccomends you beef up the clutch when you step up to stage2. And yes it will be expensive because you have to buy the mods from Mopar and no its not the the econobox you say it is. so if you wanna play your gonna pay. Next time do some research before you go posting numbers
Sorry, I meant to say that I hadn't heard of stage 4, not that I haven't heard of staged upgrades. I still can't find any info on the stage 4 upgrade from Mopar. Feel free to post a link to the info if you know more about it.

We all know what the manufacturer recommends and what the car will withstand are very different things. I have seen video of the Psi-Fi car putting down 500+whp before the cluch slips and the car was driven regularly before that in development of the parts that allowed the 500+hp run.

Maybe the clutch won't stand up to 400whp for very long, maybe it will. You are pulling assertations out of your ass as well, without backing them up. What does it really matter though? My point still stands - using stock bottom end and drivetrain (possibly with the exception of the cluch, neither of us have proved that it will or will not withstand the abuse) the car is capable of well over 400whp. With a proper clutch, 500+hp is certainly attainable, probably much more than that.

Some dink over there actually posted that 4.57's would "peg" the rpms out on the s2k at 80mph.

Not to rain on anyones parade but the hp for the SRT4 is more accuratly rated at the wheels... Dodge underratted the SRT4.

You do not have to believe me or not (doesnt matter)!!

All i have is K&N drop in filter, mopar/borla catback exhaust... and no, for the most part, that doesnt do anything to our cars...
hmm... my friend SAID (keyword: said) he ran a 13.8 stock...
anyways...
wow... um... i like neon's. I admire their straight line capabilities.

but remember your car is f/i. an air filter and catback does a sh*t load of a difference.

just an example... my friend has an 04 srt-4. we raced with some mods and without a few.

race 1 (boost controller, upgraded wastegate) - I pulled @ least 1 & 1/2 to 2 cars
race 2 (boost controller, upgraded wastegate, after market open downpipe) - he pulled a car on me...maybe a little more

one simple upgrade on his car made a huge difference. I think it's safe to say that those upgrades you have a better gain than you think.

btw - damn good reaction times!!!

I wouldn't mind having an SRT-4 and converting it to look like regular neons, and adding boost. If you added a HUGE wing and APC stickers, it'd be a pretty funny sleeper. When I am older, if I have money to burn I'm going to make a silly sleeper like this
