S2k vs(?) 993 Porsche Carrera S
#11
Most 993 Carrera 2's run 13.2-13.5@103-104mph.
The convertible which weighs more is not going to run 13.5's stock ... ever.

Also, Most 993 Carrera 2's run 13.2-13.5@103-104mph. I had timeslip of my slower 95 cabriolet 993 running a 13.5@104 (1.91 60ft) but I cannot find it.
Yes, both the 993 and old NSX would be faster than an S2000, but not by that much, and if not driven properly, they could lose. 993 was not as fast as you claimed.

In fantasyland maybe. Most are low 14 / high 13 second cars, a few -- and I mean a very very few break into the mid 13's.

That was a magazine reviewed times. You can also take a minute and look around more on the 993 section of rennlist.com and find that its not impossible and is actually very common.

How could a 993, which only had ~270 hp, be almost as fast as a 996 (with ~320 hp)? 996's were low to mid 13-sec cars.
In a street race with a rolling start, a 993 and a S2000 would be close if both were in the right gear.

Here's a very fair comparison. NSX and 911 (non-turbo) have always had similar accelerations. When they had 270 hp, they both were high 13/low 14-second cars with similar trap speeds, and when they were 290-320 hp, they were both low 13-sec cars with similar trap speeds.
The 997 of course will be faster, but the NSX is being killed off soon. Maybe Honda will replace it, or maybe not. If the new one will come out again, I'd believe they once again will have similar accelerations, unless Honda went wild with it and gave it massive hp like 450+.

What I want to know is how another 35 hp in the 997 is dropping their 1/4 mile times by almost a whole second and raising the traps almost 10mph. Anybody read Road & Track this month, see that and say "WTF?"
Yeah, the 993 isn't quite as fast as a 996 (but it'smy favorite 911). I know, I've lost to both
