If the BMW has a true SMG gearbox in it, it's likely it's faster than most manual cars. This is likely because the SMG will run, let's say, 0-60 in 6.1 seconds every time. The manual can click off a few 5.8's and 5.9's, but it's harder to do so and a botched launch or misshift is more likely.
