Don't mind those SRT boys. They're mainly just dumb shits. For example, they were telling me a 102mph trap speed at the 1/4mi is almost as fast as 118mph.

It's great to read such enthusiasm from the kids over there but it's hard on the brain to get through much of those threads. It's like being stuck in the middle of gym class between two kids arguing whose sneakers are better.
Whatever you fancy, when the thrill of going from point A to point B wears thin, the natural progression of automobile appreciation will ensure plenty of used SRT-4's for future Oxy-10 owners. The newbie Neon (yes, a Neon...I love how most conveniently drop the Neon moniker out of transparent embarrassment) is a whole lot of "bang for the buck" but in the end, the dirty little secret amongst most SRT-4 owners (though few will admit it) is they'd rather have most of the sheet metal that make up their "kill lists" rather than the Dodge but wisely, the Neon was affordable. Not many are cross shopping an SRT-4 and G35 coupe. This is why the line on the car reads "great car for the money" and not "great car." A street race or 1/4-mile run in a chocolate-covered econobox lasts for seconds while a gorgeous car remains timeless. IOW, you're not seeing many 9-second Vegas or Omni GLH's in the Dupont Registry or in the rear of Autoweek. Fast is cool. Fast and sexy is cooler.
Still, it's good to have it around to kick a little ass so the other manufacturers won't get complacent like they did in the late 90's.

Dodge salesman: "It's not a Neon, it's an SRT-4. See?"
SRT-4 customer (looking at trunklid): "You're right! I don't see 'Neon' on there at all! I'll take it!"
Come to think of it, I guess that was the best upgrade Dodge gave that car.
there is a vid somewhere of a guy hittin 13.8 in the 1/4 twice i think, I could be mistaken, it was posted recently. But again, this is a small percentage or s2000 drivers I'm willing to wager.
A modded SRT doing 12's on stock tires is like me taking out a modded Evo using the diesel in my S.
No sale on that story. The SRT's are quite fast but the stock tires on the SRT are quite pittiful compared to even the S02's that come stock on the S2k's.
It's going to take a lot more than a downpipe, CAI and boost upgrade to hit 12's in a Neon.
